Also, just to put this point out here. Scene re-use usually occurs when a background is drawn separatly from the foreground, because then you can use the same drawing as many tiomes as you would like for the background. All of simpsons backgrounds are hand drawn, and therefore are re-drawn each time you see them. Each time, there is a slight dufferance in every panel, instead of something like what was joked about in the simspsons, with the maid cleaning and the water fountain alternating for a loop of 4 or 5 times in the background. There are scenes that take place in the same location, but it is the same as in nature as it would be inside of ozy's and millie's houses. How many times have we seen millies room, or the coutch in ozy house? there really isn't scene re-use in O&M, just location re-use.

Yes, the Starbucks thing was mentioned before.. and while they're not across the street from each other on the same block, they are on opposite corners of a busy Houston intersection.

Strange, I live in Seattle, the birthplace of Starbucks and the closest I've seen is a Starbucks and Tully's right across from each other.

Good lord, is Starbucks going to take over this thread too? *gulps coffee*

But anyway, I'd never really noticed returns to specific locations in the strip. Intentional or not, that's pretty cool. When I was a young'un, me and the other boys'd walk along a log much like that one. Creek wasn't that deep, though.

having jsut gone through a bunch of the archives (for the 'find that om clip' thread), i think its really neet hte consistancy, or repitition, whith wich dc simpson protrays common locations especially the indoors of the various characters houses. i know that i would be tempted to just draw whatever furnture came to mind. there might be a hutch in the living room one comic, a coffee table the next, and a picture window the time after that if i were drawing. drawing the same places (which is different from the identical background) helps make the comic seem more "real".

I watched the Comedy Central Presents Lewis Black special and he talked about the Starbucks across from the street from one another.

In the town I grew up in, they just built a Starbucks directly across the street from a Starbucks that was already there. I guess the logic is that that way they can get customers to stop in no matter what direction they are driving in. Starbucks and Wal-Mart are taking over the world.

Letterman or Conan or somebody like that made a joke a while back about Starbucks making history by building a Starbucks inside of a Starbucks that already was there.
