I wonder if Mr. Simpson ever read this topic...

It's well possible I just didn't understand. I'm German, after all.)

Anyway, I like this strip, really. It symbolizes the inevitability of aging with the inevitability of RAIN destroying a poorly built playhouse, which is a symbol of Millie's childish, but in the end useless stubbornness.

There are two reasons I can think of why this strip has not been on paper yet:

1. DCS has not thought of it.

2. He has, but knows that this strip (Millie's birthday as well as the allegory) would be a certain proof that Ozy & Millie and all the other characters we love actually age, and by drawing it, he would actually have to make them grow older over the time. Until now, he has not made that decision, and it seems like he still needs time to figure that out. Or did he actually give us a clear "No way" about Ozy & Millie aging?

yes. when DCS's style was too kiddy, he changed it, and then since they looked so much older, called them ten instead of 8. millie would have to somehow be different if she got older, wouldn't she? but, DCS doesn't want them to age (or atleast, we don't want them too.)

you actually just reworded what i said. I don't know, I think they became 10 with the change in style automatically. DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.
Like the concept.

Though, Millie aging to 11 from 10 wouldn't necesitate a change in her character design, since last I checked in the real world you don't just suddenly change appearance with every passing year. The thing that strikes me as odd is the amount of Christmases they've had at 10

As for DCS changing his art style, if it's already happened, how then, is it implausable to happen, since you can't even use the arguement that it's unprecidented in your arguement of implausability. It's unlikely to ever have as major a change again, but not completely implausable, simply from the fact that it's happened before.

Garfield has had 25 birthdays and christmases. Normally, cats die at around 15.

(Must I say "Garfield should have done that as well" or are enough of you thinking that so that I don't have to say it?)

Whoops. My bad. Garfield has also had 26 christmases, now that I think about it.

Breaking News: DCS is right now reporting about the great style change of 2000 (A historic moment!). He also mentions he thought about "starting the strip's chronology over". He didn't. So, technically, he didn't abandon the old comics, which means that it is still true Ozy and Millie have once been eight years old. Now they are ten. The only logical explanation is aging, which is enforced by DCS saying there is a chronology.

I don't think the age thing has too much weight. They were eight and to suit the new style they became ten. Bam, just like that. Same general rule as how Charlie Brown "lived" for fifty years but never aged. (Well okay they did age, but by the early sixties they were all pretty much how we know them)
