Re: Classics you liked (or not)?
Invisible Man was the biggest piece of shit I've ever read. Preachy, hackneyed, pretentious, boring and completely uninteresting. Why does it get so much praise? I don't know. Maybe it was quite a classic back in the day, but now it's just lame. While I havn't read The Invisible Man since 4th grade...

Re: Classics you liked (or not)?
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Wayyy too wordy all the way through. The story was lost along the way. I just gave up on this book completely when I arrived at this bit - As the two wayfarers came within the precincts of the town, the children of the Puritans looked up from their play,--...

Re: Classics you liked (or not)?
I think it was less that Nixon won the war but that he was willing to use Dr. Manhattan when no other president would. It would make citizen's wonder if another president would have the guts to use him, as well as the fact that Nixon is a dirty cheater when it comes to elections. I doubt even Dr. M...

Llewellyn's line at the end I find rather witty. I like this strip.

Re: Random Internet Videos!
I knew there was one, I just couldn't find it anyway. Thanks for the endorsement .We do in fact already have one, but it's so old and long that a new fresh one is probably a good idea. Carry on.

stuff There's a huge difference between high school and elementary school. True, but I went through the same thing in elementary school. If the teachers never saw the bullying, nothing happened. Actually, the vice principal always believed me (and so did every other administrator), they just explai...

Re: Something isn't right....
There are translations of a lot of things, but some are better than others. Of course, different translators can have a different way with words. You could always find a good translation of Das Kapital read a little of several and find a one you like. Or if you're are distrustful of all translators...

Re: Tuesday, March 16, 1999: "The real world"
Actually, I've had several problems with teachers and administration saying that they never saw anything. I remember playing floor hockey in Junior(?) year and having a hockey stick thrown at my back when I was facing away, he threw it from about 15ft away, teacher didn't see a thing, and no eyewitn...

Re: Something isn't right....
I haven't read Das Kapital , and even then I wouldn't be likely to understand much of it, especially as it wasn't written in English in the first place. Also, it would be tantamount to learning about vacuum-tube electronics, which has become mostly obsolete by now. Great minds can come up with righ...

Thanks Jason . I did find it annoying on the old forum, but I rather miss the feature. At least I can pick and choose when to use it.

"New Post" status.
I've found it to be problematic that everytime I log on the new post status for topics never goes away. I have to click on and go through each page with new posts before it labels it as "read". Is there a setting that allows me to see new posts that have only been posted after I log off? I'm never s...
