Indeed. And I hope you're not too offended by my statement. Everyone I know halfway well does something that bugs me, and there are worse ways to do that than by changing a lot.

Often it's because you have these flaws yourself, and just don't like to admit it. I know it's that way with me. If you have certain traits you don't like, when other people display them, it tends to grate, and sometimes you snap at them.

Sounds suspiciously like the Calvin and Hobbes series in which Hobbes gives Calvin a bald haircut and they use a yellow marker to draw it back on. >_>
