Farewell Yerf
Moderator:Æron
As some of you might know, the furry art site "Yerf" has been down for some weeks. A few days back on Yerf's LJ it said the problem was due to a head crash.

All the data is gone, and apparently there was no backup. Literally thousands of pages of art are gone. They are trying to piece what they can.

Another furry (mainly) art site, VCL, is also having problems, but these are due to content and politics.

And the art that actually was there was really good for the mostpart.
Anami: Sex with a giant, black scorpion seems fun.
<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.

I mentioned this on the LJ, but I'll repeat it here for those concerned. The Internet Archive has a backup of the site; last time I checked at least some of the images were still there as well. I suppose Yerf's owner could contact them directly and get a bulk download of all the Yerf images they saved; I'm not sure what the Archive's policy is on that. Artists who were still posting there when the crisis hit can always re-upload their stuff, and the others can maybe still be contacted somehow. As for the rest, well, several users said they have downloaded a lot of images from Yerf over the years. Who knows, maybe between those three sources they can recover a good 80% of what they lost, maybe more.

I don't see why anyone really likes it.
