Weird News

Postby VisibilityMissing » Tue Jun 29, 2004 1:07 pm

I'm starting this topic about the types of news stories that are usually used as filler in the big papers. They're usually about people having some misadventure due to stupidity or plain bad luck.

I've noticed that a lot of these stories involve misadventures with animals, so I'll start us out with two from today's AP feed:

Squirrel Steals Yellow Ribbons From Tree: A story of the battle to support our troops overseas, despite the forces of nature.

and

Python Surprises Man Driving Rental Car: A cautionary tale that tells us to always check our rental cars for uninvited passengers.

Rent-a-pup and others

The Metro is a free paper that u get on busses and trains. I like it because it cannot be politically influenced in any way, it has the important news, international news, national news, sports news, where to eat out, a TV for the day its published, a Music section and a videogame review section. A sort of puzzle page with a cartoon at the bottome (it varies - Nemi and This Life are OK, but tbh i would much rather see O&M instead of Judge Dredd. It sucks. Bad.) Its a daily paper and not too big.
