They look positively crazy o_O. The Claire Levanduski one is particularly disturbing.

Edit: Actually THEY ALL are. I just realized after listening to a few that every one I listened to used the word "Czar", "socialist", and the same key phrases over and over again. Something tells me they just group-trolled the Times O_O .

The problem is that they're all white.

And most people living on the continent of Africa are black.

Oh, BTW, whatever happened to the stories of Tea Partiers spitting on and shouting racial epithets at black Congresspersons and homophobic epithets at Barney Frank?

I would continue a civil debate but I'm a bit too tipsy. But I'll just say that I don't think the tea partiers are racist (though some of them may be).

It's not a coincedence that all of the thumbnails for the videos make them look either like severe a-holes or extreme creepers.

That's right. It's the old take-a-picture-of-someone-you-dislike-in-a-pose-that-makes-them-look-like-a-schlub trick. Like Sacha Baron Cohen who, when he wanted to prove Americans were stupid and bigoted, interviewed dozens of them until he inevitably found one who was the typecast he wanted.

Considering these Teabaggers sent in THEIR OWN videos, I doubt that is even remotely the case.

I was thinking the other day that there have to be some people who go to these protests that aren't blatantly stupid, but then I realized that they have to be such a small minority that it's insignificant.

The sheer number of signs with misspelled words on them is amazing. They really are that stupid.

If they're so stupid, how come you're so afraid of them that you have to demonize them?

Out with it. The truth is that people who aren't the type who go out and protest are the ones who make uo the Tea Party movement, and they've become much too big to ignore. That's why the blatantly false rumors have been spread of how they shouted racial and homophobic epithets at certain congresspeople, that they are called racist and stupid and ugly and every name there is. It's because the Obama administration and lackeys of the left like some people on this forum are scared shitless of them. It's the average Americans who are rebelling against Obama and his extreme spending and his acting more like a dictator than the President of the United States and the Democrats who have gone along with him and are certainly going to be trounced in future elections.

Election Day cannot come soon enough. Then the real idiots and piugs and racists will be outed. None of them will be members of the Tea Party movement. :-P

Seriously don't really care either way, but that amused me.

I'm only telling the truth, nothing more. It doesn't matter if you don't like what I have to say, facts are facts.

As someone who is fairly liberal (not extremely so, but fairly), I am not afraid of the Tea Party movement whatsoever. 18% of Americans support them. While that's fairly large, it's nothing that will elect a Tea Party candidate to office, considering that 62% of Americans do not support them. (Percentages cited from here.) If the average American now represents 18% of the population, then we have sort of a Tyranny of the Minority going on. Luckily, I believe in FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY and AMERICA so I do not believe that 18% will rule the country. You can say this percentage will increase, and it probably will, but it would need to cross 40%, probably, to really dominate. Based on the general history of political movements, I don't see that happening.

As far as Obama's policies are concerned, they're moderate at best. Frankly I know many liberals who would be greatly pleased if Obama actually did half the things conservatives said he did. Frankly, he's supported a couple of pretty conservative concepts. One is the offshore drilling near Virginia, which I'm actually thrilled about since, as a geologist, that means more jobs opportunities. The 2nd is the recently passed health care bill, which has a -lot- of similarities to the Republican health care proposal put forth in 1993 titled "Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act of 1993," which was meant to be an alternative to Clinton's plan.

Also, Obama doesn't act like a dictator; to say he does is to blatantly misunderstand what a dictatorship is. If he was passing all sorts of laws into place without going through the legislative branch at all, then yes, I'd say he's acting like a dictator. If he were to completely shut down Fox News, that would be fishy. If he was shutting down all of the Tea Party protests, I would say he's acting like a dictator. Passing legislation that's been through congress that involves lots of spending and deficit increases (which was totally fine when Reagan did it, btw) is something you might DISAGREE with, but it's not dictatorship.

P.S.: I'm moving this to World Events, as it's better fit there. I'm all for a civil debate, but this isn't the place.

It seems both sides keep perpetuating the old human fault of accentuating the worst parts of the other side and turning them into some creature beyond approach.

Also, I get the feeling Tom is deliberately trying to turn this all into something less civil.
