Anti Spambot massures

Postby Jakkal » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:44 am

We can clearly see, that there a a extrem high amout of Spambots spaming around our site. Are there no way to get rid of these things? Like Captcha using (not the original ones, but like a picture of a OM character (with name below) and you have to say, which one it is) or a activation via admin? Those guys are getting on my nerves, to be honest.

There's not a great deal of scope for custom captchas unless someone were to code something specifically (I can't see that happening). There's not really a lot we can do without making it awkward for real new users.

yo nick I can catch spambots for you, I've been reporting them about as soon as they come on lately.
Apologies to everyone. Except Fritz.
First of all, Fritz, do yourself a favor and research your own answers before you post.

I've been posting here for years and cleverly evaded being caught.

We do have anti-spambot measures in place at the moment. Hunt and destroy.

There are no spambots, we moderators take turns to set up accounts that act as spambots and then move in to clear them, all so we can look competent and be seen as doing something.

Wondering why there was so much ugg boots spam? It's a prerequisite to join the mod team, you must have and like uggs.

Also, we need something for all the anti-spambot masseurs to do.

Wondering why there was so much ugg boots spam?
Because earlier in the chat we discovered we could make a huge profit importing Uggs from Australia.

uggh why do the mods have to ruin my plans of undercutting the market

I didn't know he was Australian. Or that there was more than one of him.
