Survivors of Hudson River air crash consider suing airline

Postby Baconsticks » Wed Mar 04, 2009 12:54 am

Some of the 150 passengers whose lives were saved in the “miracle of the Hudson” last month are considering suing US Airways for the emotional distress they suffered.

The pilot received an ovation from both Houses of Congress on Tuesday when President Obama praised Chesley B. Sullenberger’s heroism by bringing the aircraft safely down in the river on January 15. The airline, however, appears set to receive a writ.

In apparent confirmation that America remains the most litigious society in the world, Kreindler and Kreindler, a New York law firm, says it has been contacted by passengers of Flight 1549 about claiming damages for post-traumatic stress disorder.

The airline has sent the passengers a letter of apology, a $5,000 (£3,500) cheque to assist with “immediate needs”, reimbursement for their tickets and a promise to be upgraded to first class on flights until March 10.

Tess Sosa, who escaped with her husband and two small children, told the New York Post that US Airways were seeking to “exonerate themselves as much as they can” by offering passengers “a small token”.

Others, however, insist they are just grateful to be alive. One, Dave Sanderson, said the airline had “treated me like gold since the incident”.

These people are fuckin' leeches.

I thought this was retarded even before I read the part about them each getting $5000.

An open letter to the suing survivors of Flight 1549:

Dear Sirs and Madams,

I am terribly sorry for you suffering. Such is life. Due to random variance in the population, it is mere chance that put good people like yourselves on that flight. It really is unfortunate that this happened to you and not others. Random variance doesn't allow exemplary people like you to be clustered on other flights and not the one you so inopportunely happened to board that day. Fortunately, I have an offer for you to make up for how you have been wronged. I am truly sorry that it may be coming to you more tardily than you truly deserve, but it is the best I have to offer. Instructions to collect your reparations are attached. PLEASE FOLLOW THEM CAREFULLY!

Your humble servant,
~Aeron "Vicious Reasoning" Fawkes

INSTRUCTIONS
Scurry, scurry, Scurryous! You might just be the murriest. You certainly are the furriest! Hurry! Scurry! Scurryous!

I wish every formal establishment in the world had that balls to tell it like it is. Occurrences of plaintiffs winning cases would drop by 80%.

"Emotional distress"? If that's all you're worried about, there's a way to get rid of that. Here's a razor blade. Remember, cut along the vein, not across it.

haha yeah, when you cut across it, you will probably hit your Nervus Medianus, and most of the people stop cutting further on, because it hurts to much  but sometimes... it really is a mess... first doing all tought and then crying around, that they are hurt and are not dying...

Down the road, cross on the zebra stripes, hop along the bike path and go down a back alley.
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.
