Emma Jane is a seriously lame name, glad her friends called her "Girl". Mary Jane would rock though
How about "Mary Sue"?

I would point to the Girl blog and how it's trying to keep us abreast of what's going on except the last post was over a month ago and just featured DCS standing under a giant LOVE statue.

Give her a break. She's slowly breaking into her new body. Besides, in a hot climate such as Arizona I imagine a dress might be more comfy than trousers.

Is it just me, or are all of DCS's post-O&M character drawings considerably less expressive? The only thing I ever see on their faces is that glassy stare.

Sorry to inflict pain on everyone but there's a substational update on Girl, it's now (possibly) called Zoey and Max with Girl as Zoey and uhm ... well there's no other way to really describe Max other then David Simpson returned as a comic book character.

Maybe just my impression but yeah maybe some issues here >.>

The update text:
So the main question people keep asking me is: when is "Girl" going to launch?

The answer is one you will probably find as unsatisfying as I do: I don't know.

Firstly, the way it works: syndicates launch 2-3 strips every year, and at any point they have a number of strips under development, waiting for the green light. I was hoping to get the fall launch slot, but I didn't.

The syndicate let me know, in August, that they were launching "Thatababy," one of the strips I beat in the contest last year, ahead of me (and ahead of several other strips that had been in development longer). They said there were several reasons, one of which was that they had launched two "talking animal" strips in a row, and didn't want to launch a third.

So if I'm lucky I might get in in spring 2011. Cross your fingers for me. In the meantime, I'm getting paid to send them 20 roughs a month, which come back to me with commentary written all over it by several editors.

They also let me know, though, that they wanted me to try some changes to the strip. The title, for one thing. Too generic.

Also, I'm experimenting with the cast. In the most recent strips I've given my protagonist a name and paired her with a little boy.

I've noticed it too. It seems to have happened when he switched from paper and ink to digital.

I think that's a little unfair, the strips he did for Octan's "Mandy" strip proove he can still do AWESOME facial expressions....just wish he'd do it more often.

The theme of Mandy the dog having the hots for her owner is an inherent part of the strip. Blame Octan (the strip's author), not DCS.
