someone register "WeLoveGirl.com" so we can get dibs on the new DCS fansite.
I'm surprised that's not both a) taken and b) porn.
Let's make it a Girl porn fansite.

Interesting, O&M site is timing out, probably getting a lot of traffic from Amazon...
So the people who enjoyed Girl are going to O&M to see D.C.'s original work and are being greeted by a kangaroo smoking pot. Uh.

:wag:

Made of win.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

More like posting disgust with DCS as a whole, rather than the political opinion.
Which is why in the previous post, it was all political option...
Incorrect:

Once again, this was a comment on the person. If you want to read into it more than that, than that is your own issue to hammer out.

Concurred.

"Andrews McMeel Universal and Amazon.com are thrilled to announce that Girl by Dana Simpson is the Grand Prize winner of the Comic Strip Superstar contest.

The contest rules clearly state newspaper syndication AND comic strip collection book publishing as the rewards.
Could you point out exactly where it mentioned newspaper syndication? I might not be looking in the right place, but when I looked up the prizes it mentioned only a book deal and contracts for syndication on a comics website.

Point 1 is about the book, 3 is about the online strips. It follows logically that 2, which largely talks about syndication without really saying much at all in terms of details, as most legalese does, refers to print syndication in newspapers, though it isn't quite as obvious as I thought it was. I mean, what else could it mean?

*jumps on the I hope she stops updating Raine Dog bandwagon*
Oh, and which one of you jerks is responsible for this? That's just mean.
Lol, not me... I would have written "Girl is bad and you should feel bad" or something. But yeah there's really no reason not to be happy for her here. At the very least, this comic is more like Ozy and Millie... I dunno if Ill enjoy it though but I'll give it a shot.

You know, reading the prize results for that contract? that's pretty awful x_x

Maybe I misread it, but I interpreted it as needing to provide 20 strips a month for up to 24 months, paid only $300 a month, the syndicate can terminate the contract without notice at any time, and all terms are non-negotiable, with nothing guaranteed if you make it through the 24 months.

The comic is only required to be suitable for syndication, nothing has been stated as to if it will actually make print.

In number 3, it's stated that the online royalties for the artwork will be determined solely by the syndicate.

That sounds horrid!

That's why newspaper ocmics and Russian Mobs both use the word "Syndicate"

See, it doesn't seem very logical to me because point 2 mentions a contract with Uclick specifically, and not the parent company or its actual newspaper subsidiary, Universal Press Syndicate. Uclick itself does not deal in print media, only digital media. It distributes print comics in syndication on the web, but does not operate in reverse as far as I can determine.

You're only just learning about the sort of contracts syndicates dump on potential new comics?
