Well, that strip definitely went in a direction I did not expect.

There's an odd convention in comic strips where kids have to believe in Santa Claus way older than kids do, in real life. I think Charles Schulz may have started it; I'm not sure. It's something I went along with in the early strips, though.
I saw a Norman Rockwell exhibit in a museum at one point, and there was a guest book where people could leave their impressions about certain pieces. One of them depicted a child's shock and horror at finding the Santa Clause suit in his father's dresser, and realizing that Santa doesn't exist. (Or that his dad shot Santa and kept his suit as a macabre trophy, but nobody seemed to agree with my analysis.)There's an odd convention in comic strips where kids have to believe in Santa Claus way older than kids do, in real life.
Hey, I believe in Santa Claus. But he doesn't bring me anything.A lot of the comments on the book were people proclaiming that, well into their twenties or thirties or fourties, they still believed in Santa.
I have no idea what Avery's intention is. To fool Santa into thinking he's someone else? Does he want to end up with female toys such as dolls?Nice = Cross dresser.
They are still 8 at this point right? People that age still believe. Its really the boarder and at any older age it gets less credible.
