I hate to say it, but I like the Girl version better, just taken as itself. The silent final panel is what sells it; if Ozy hadn't spoken and just kind of smiled, it would work a lot better.

I still dig the original. Girl's weird-ass smile at the end is what kills it for me. It's not cute, it's just creepy.

In this case, yes, the original is better.

I mean in presentation. All we have of Girl thus far is the submissions to the contest and she still winds up with an undue amount of disturbing smiles. But the silent final panel is what sells it; I really don't appreciate Ozy turning to the camera and breaking the fourth wall to say "You know, I do feel better".I still dig the original. Girl's weird-ass smile at the end is what kills it for me. It's not cute, it's just creepy.

I like the idea of the silent last panel, it's true. Still, I think the first one is cuter, and remember, Ozy almost always has at least a small smile on his face anyways, so it might be hard to tell he was smiling at the string. I dunno, just guessing. Girl's smile in the 4th panel is quite creepy though, it's true.
OK. pants it. I lied. It's drum and bass. What you gonna do?

why did you put the Girl strip underneath the comic, it's like saying "hey instead of going back and remembering what you originally thought of this strip, instead think of this strip as a total crappy strip, since the now-sucky-DCS still thinks it's a good enough strip to reuse for her crappy comics" and I can't say anything other than "this strip sucks I don't know why anyone ever liked it"

He posted it there to make a comparison...which he typed in his comment. The O&M one is essentially perfect with a quiet last panel.

I never found what was appealing in this. In the early years of Define Cynical a lot of people expressed their fondness for this and it regularly came up on "what is your favourite strip" threads. I think if I was doing a comic this would be one of those filler strips I'd put when I had writers block.
That said, I like sweet and innocent when it's done right, I just don't find this whole blue string thing a good comic.

It works because it's blue string. If it was anything else, like a paperclip or some shit, it wouldn't have worked.I never found what was appealing in this. Ugh somebody just get around to putting Girl's creepy smile over Stephen in that spice girls screensaver edit.
Anami: Sex with a giant, black scorpion seems fun.
<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.

it's a strange request and I don't quite see the allure of it, but the public gets what the public wants.
edit: I learned from /b/tards that stuff like this is can make anything funny, maybe it'll make the girl head funny:
