Tackle football without pads is pretty much rugby.

PS this never happens in elementary school gyms.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

This doesn't even happen in high-school gym. Why are PE teachers always heavyset, angry jerks who pick on the protagonists? I had really nice PE teachers in my time.

(One of them was still heavyset, though.)

Still, Ozy's quite cute in that first panel.

I can relate to the anti-PE statement, even if it is rather exaggerated.

I had a PE teacher who was thin, kinda meek, and probably weighed about 150 pounds.

Ozy will later get in trouble for not wearing gym shorts.

Its comics like this that make me wonder if DCS is even from our planet. This doesn't happen, this never happens. You can't even play dodgeball with rubber balls anymore. You can't even play two hand touch in gym class because somebody might get pushed. Gym class football is flag football, or more likely not even played.

Plus who the hell didn't like gym class? Even the unathletic people like it for the fact that its easy. All you do is play a game. Who doesn't like to play games. Even when its not a fun game, like line soccer, its still better then doing actual work.

Holla. Elementary school gym (or P.E. as it went) owned. I remember having a blast in there a thousand times over.

And it was coed. It was always coed all the way through high school.

I thought DCS was from a more urban area, surely in some places they still have split-sex gym but I would imagine it to be more in the bible belt or something.

maybe DCS just watches too much of The Wonder Years or something.
