Agh, I'm not sure why I'm bothering, but...
The taboo is that they KISSED. The parents were shocked that his son was kissing an anthropomorphic dog; that was taboo enough. Before that, the two had ONLY SLEPT in the same bed together. And yes, just kissing would make the parents nervous about the potential friskiness of a dog, and take drastic action. Such is Raine's world.
Give Dana a little credit.
They could have just TALKED to Raine since she is capable of understanding. It's what I would've done.
Whatever. The strip is getting weirder by the minute.
I also laughed hysterically at the kissing strip it was just SO drama queen!

The whole "making whoopie" part between Raine and Jeff came outta left field but I'm pretty sure the one strip where they held hands while sitting on the fence hinted that they were more than just friends. Hoo boy, imagine what Jeff does when someone asks him about his first girlfriend.

Raine looked pretty coy in the last comic strip. She even made a joke about "spending the night with" him. No, I don't think they ACTUALLY had sex, but the comic definitely brings the idea to mind. In O&M I would think differently, but this obviously has a more adult tone.
Personally, I want to see a Hate Mail counter, and see which comics boost it up the most.
My first girlfriend was a real dog.

holy crap,
we know.
We all know they kissed, they didn't have sex. The problem is that because all of us here have been having extended discussions on how Jeff and Raine have sex (which we all know is not true and we are joking in case you cannot tell), this page doesn't evoke the sadness that DCS wanted it to.

Not in this world. At least in the time this page is set, it doesn't matter that dogs are anthro, and obviously sentient. They're still widely considered by humanity in general to be animals.
And in Raine's case, property.

Add to that the fact that anyone who is still looking at Raine as a mere animal is totally missing the point of this comic.
In the world of Raine Dog this is correct.
Back in the real world everyone knows these as
funny animals.
