Raine's cuter as a puppy in my never-humble opinion; I think it's the much longer snout I don't care for in her adult incarnation.

Probably hanging over the nearest chair?Back to the strip, where did her jacket go?
And the flashback that is the bulk if not the entirety of the series begins. Does it count as a flashback if everything else is just a framing device? Does TV Tropes have a term for that? Would it be reasonably possible to find it, or anything on that site, except by accident? Stay tuned as none of these irrelevant questions will be answered.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HowWeGotHere - We don't start in the beginning of the story, but then a flashback goes back to it soon enough.

One thing I've been wondering about... is Raine's fur actually blue or is it just that the entire strip is black, white and blue?
Can anyone give me some examples of real life animals with red, blue, green or purple skin or fur? I've seen close to red but it's generally more orange than red. Not feathers or scales, I know they can get some of those colors through at least iridescence (if not actual pigment).
