so much black in that strip, it feels weird too see all of that un-coloured space with a coloured strip

DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

Yeah, codecat should have used screen on that last panel to take some black out.

I would have recommended such a thing myself except that, with that much black, it's liable to be a lion of a job and almost impossible to get right. Remember, he'd have to recreate the outer edge of the outlines himself exactly the way they'd look if it hadn't been filled in. It's hard enough doing that when you just have to color, say, the stripes of a flag, but for a panel this big and this full of black, it's just not worth it.

I think it would look good with a dark gradient in the final panel just to add some contrast.
