I don't care whether DCS considers us an official O&M fan forum or not. Recently we've only been very tangentially related to O&M, anyway; we haven't been first and foremost an O&M forum for a long time. As far as I'm aware we never really answered to DCS either. He was no more privileged than any other member.
However, allowing the forum to die is very much the last thing I want. The problem is that having no focused topic will reduce our intake of new members to practically nil. I'm not sure whether this will be a big problem or not; perhaps we'll all get on like a happy, active family for ever and ever, but it worries me.
I don't think the solution is to split the board, nor do I think that we should repeal our nominal commitment to family-friendliness. I don't want to see this board descend into mutual trolling - that, despite what DCS may think, is a truly toxic atmosphere. The board as it is presently is a perfectly nice place to be, bar the occasional tiff, and I don't think amending the rules will make that any better (especially considering that nobody pays attention to them anyway).
If you have anything important to say, direct it at me via IM or PM, otherwise it'll be drowned in the general drivel of this thread (<3).

If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. (Revelation 2:5, NIV)

My best guess is that DCS will no longer refer anyone here through links, newsposts or other means. There would be no information available to new readers about this site or how to reach it.This lack of further endorsement. What does it mean in concrete, non-abstract terms?
She may also decide never to post or even visit here again, but that is not at all for sure.

This is my thought. The board as it is presently is a perfectly nice place to be, bar the occasional tiff, and I don't think amending the rules will make that any better (especially considering that nobody pays attention to them anyway).
It would make little sense for DC to suddenly reinstate all of the nice rules from back when Tavis was a mod, despite how nice the forums were then. My only regret is that we now have no pool of new members to draw from.
if we really wanted to, I guess we could find some sort of new comic that a modern member writes (but it would have to be a regular thing... outside of that one weird ex-member who currently writes a comic featuring an 8 year old catgirl with a pornstar as a mother, I don't know of any)
I merely suggested a new website so that RD and future OM comics would have a proper place to be discussed, since it's been pretty apparent for a while that none of the regulars have anything positive to say, but there's still lots of people that do.

Well put doog. You never posted anything offensive whatsoever
we know she'll be back, like a good bitch should.
That's the responsibility of DCS or somebody who likes RD enough, and they're welcome to. I will not be involved.I merely suggested a new website so that RD and future OM comics would have a proper place to be discussed, since it's been pretty apparent for a while that none of the regulars have anything positive to say, but there's still lots of people that do.

You know, it would have been nice of DCS to give us notice and/or explanation instead of underhandedly just cutting the link and making a small note of it on the O&M site. A giant "pants you" to us all. Some of us may deserve it, but it's hardly fair to the rest.

Honestly, I think DCS is just butthurt that people don't like RD, and that they call h(im/er) on h(is/er) various stupid opinions/actions etc.You know, it would have been nice of DCS to give us notice and/or explanation instead of underhandedly just cutting the link and making a small note of it on the O&M site. I too suspect that is part of it.Honestly, I think DCS is just butthurt that people don't like RD, and that they call h(im/er) on h(is/er) various stupid opinions/actions etc.You know, it would have been nice of DCS to give us notice and/or explanation instead of underhandedly just cutting the link and making a small note of it on the O&M site. It's kind of hard to "disown" us considering that she never "owned" us in the first place. I never was very comfortable with being moved into the Ozy and Millie site's main linkbar in the first place; it was like we had become official, to some extent, and were suddenly held to some sort of standard. Before that we were just lumped in with the other list of fan projects that nobody bothers to read. I found it purely by accident by Googling "Ozy and Millie", and Heaven knows why I was compelled to even do that.
And it was that sense of officiality (shut up, spell check, that is TOO a word) that convinced us to add a board for a comic we hadn't even seen yet and had no idea if we liked or not even though this was supposed to be a "fan forum." Surprise surprise, turns out most of us are in fact not fans of that other comic, and are in no way shy about saying so on the "fan forum". To quote GLaDOS: Nice job breaking it, hero.
Fact is, Define Cynical worked because it was a forum created by and for fans of one particular piece of work that had been around for years and had a fairly small but dedicated fanbase. We were free from the formality of being official or run by the work's creator, and ironically this is what made it such a good place for fans. I stand by what I said earlier, that anything I create will never have an official forum for this very reason.
It's sad, really, because this was the first online community where I really connected with any of the other members. I'd say I'll miss them, but I already do because most of them have already left! And I know I'll probably never see them again unless by some miracle some other thing comes along that we coincidentally all like and latch onto enough to make and join a fan forum for.
In short, I leave you with this.

That was suggested about a year ago when Dana announced that Ozy and Millie would be ending. It didn't get enough support, even though we had quite a few members with their own webcomics at the time, and in hindsight it probably would have gone about as well for them as it has for Raine Dog.if we really wanted to, I guess we could find some sort of new comic that a modern member writes (but it would have to be a regular thing... outside of that one weird ex-member who currently writes a comic featuring an 8 year old catgirl with a pornstar as a mother, I don't know of any)

Astro> gforce's smiles can cure cancer in kittensgforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.
