Yeah, custom titles would be cool, but I'm not too concerned about it. My gaming clan has the Karma thing on their forums, and everyone on there has like -50 karma. Cause we're like that.

That'll just lead to badness; you have other people deciding someone's title, you're going to either have a lot of cranky people who don't like their title or even some out-and-out insults attached to folks we don't like.

Rocketgirl, I don't necessarily mean this badly but you seem to have a cynical (or maybe just, introverted?) view of how forums react, that based on my experience is a lot less lax than how DC would typically react to such nonsense. There would certainly be confusion and people saying "wtf this is bad" but I have faith that we could properly execute such tomfoolery. It could be an elected committee, perhaps. like in America, you don't have any say in what goes on with your life or your money, but you DO get to choose between two people that are equally horrible for the job of deciding for you

I see it as, the committee won't be full of Fritzes. it will be full of fun people like our long-departed Dr. Fred. I know that everyone would be content if Dr. Fred came back with the sole job of giving people titles. But, it would be a group of people, not just a single person. And they would not all be likeminded, as I said before, so that it would have variety and checks-and-balances.

and FoxChild and Midnight Realism switched avatars, signatures, and custom-titles that one time and completely threw people off for a few days, and then everyone else did it.

and then I just started randomly doing it to other people without them taking my place, and for a few years everyone knew me as wont to do that.

Most boards I've been on are...mostly full of complete pricks who are convinced that everyone deserves the abuse they get.
So...forgive me if I don't really trust a system where other people get to give you a name of some kind; I have yet to experience a board where that didn't get rather badly abused before too terribly much time has passed.

Maybe DC is different, but...well...I'm new here, and I've seen a bit of asshattery, though I admit, not nearly as much as I was expecting at first... Give me time to learn to trust, neh?
