There's only two forums on Ozy and Millie, there needs to be way more.

Have a look at this place and get some ideas for more forums.

It doesn't really need more forums, at least not that many. It just complicates things. I was thinking of a "Current Strip" forum, but it's up to the members.

More forums tends to lead to less activity, not more -- because it stretches the activity out among too many places.

There are "current strip" threads, though I'd prefer a thread with the name of the strip for each strip instead. If the strip is good it'll provoke commentary...

No more forums for a while now. :P

I wanted a forum for this because there wasn't enough discussion of current strips.

I guess I can live with it.

I just wasn't used to it at first because the forums I go to are chock-a-block with forum variety.

I'd still like that Welcoming forum though, encouraging n00bs to stay.

If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

I am told that a "Welcoming" forum would be quite pointless.
I am told that it is quite common for people to register and neglect their accounts.

[off topic]

hdofu, have you considered cutting a few blank lines and/or explanatory notes from your signature? It's like 3/4 of a screen high...

[/off topic]

I've run boards with and without "welcome" forums, and never noticed a significant difference in user-retention with our without.

However, when the board gets busy, it might be a good idea to have a "how did you find O&M" forum, or at least a stickied thread in the main forum. This is the sort of thing that attracts newbies.

(Notice I use "newbies" rather than "n00bs" -- newbies imply they're new, while n00bs implies they're chumps with no computer sk1llz who think everyone is a cheater. Somebody can be a n00b long-term, but a newbie always grows out of it.)
