Uh...once I shot some sort of rifle. With a scope. I hit a little MEHTUL rat-target. Is that good enough? <img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Logical progression really innit?<br><br>Well, I'm with Draganfox on the not using firearms side of things. Wouldn't be hard to, I guess, but living in the UK it is kinda illegal <img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> Except if I joined the Armed Forces.

One day I shall own a .50 cal M82. They're illegal here, but I can still get a .50 bolt action (when im older obviously). I may have to emigrate...

Well, a militia was originally intended to protect a community back in the colonial days when the military wasn't able to cover the whole country. Now, they exist mostly for recreation, and to scare criminals away.<br><br>A semi-relevant quote from Jeff Foxworthy, a popular stand-up comedian from the deep south:<br><br>"Put yourself in the mind of a thief. You come across two houses, and one has a manicured lawn, and daisies growing in front, you're thinking 'That's easy pickin's'. BUT, if you come across a house where the grass is [knee] high, there's a dog chained to the clothesline, and a motor swingin' in the tree, buddy, that's a house where a gun lives! I'd have expected a lot fiercer recoil from such a powerful cartridge.<br><br>In Vietnam, occasionally snipers would use the .50-cal M2 HB machinegun to snipe with. One sniper got a hit on a VC at a range of 2500 yards. Impressive.<br>

I got a headshot (9cm target) at 100 metres constantly with the runner-up for the M-24 (The M-24 is the Remington 700 and the gun I shot was the Steyr SSG with the heavy Police barrel (PKII) and 10x scope. The scope cost about 1500 and the gun about 1000. I know thats nothing to 2 miles but i still think its summing. Especially as it was the 1st real gun i ever shot)
