The Germans played well, but Spain played better, and they upstaged them. So it's a Spain - Netherlands final which is great because firstly those teams have superior passing skills which usually results in more enjoyable football, but also because whoever wins it'll be the first time they've won which I always like to see. Better that than the Brazils or Italies winning YET again. Still, rooting for, as I usually do, the Netherlands. But a Spain win is good too.

But before that, the third place match, Germany - Uruguay.

Poor thing, he just calls them as he sees them and everyone gets angry with him.

I think apart from the Germany - England prediction, Paul has always chosen from the box on the right hand side to the camera. That's what I've noticed in the last few predictions.

Didn't watch much of the game last night, but Uruguay came from 1-0 to 1-2 then Germany went 3-2 up, so it must have been a hard-fought match.

Selecting the victor in seven games in a row by choosing at random is a one in 128 chance. While I don't believe in psychic octopuses, it sounds pretty significant. Apparently he was correct 80% of the time in Euro 2008 too.

I, for one, welcome our psychic octopus overlords.

Well, that was not what you expect from the Netherlands. I wonder if their strategy was to force the game into penalties because distrupting the opposition in that way is more the norm for some South American teams. Anyway, Spain were a little more in control throughout the game but apart from the many fouls Netherlands still played well. Another game where Spain win 1-0, but that's how it is sometimes. Euro 2008, and now 2010 world champions, it's really Spain's era currently. Well done Spain!

So now I can stop being concerned about football until Euro 2012.

Wait. There's an octopus now? God, football/soccer is confusing.
