good luck, man...

Well, I'm hoping that my being the only male child in the household will help. If not, I can always come out to the draft people and use the military's anti-gay policies against them. If THAT doesn't work, I'm technically still a member of a concientous objector church (even though I don't go there anymore), so that would at least get me out of combat, although I despise the idea of being a slave to the government in any way, shape, or form. The whole idea of conscription is outdated by several hundred years, and hopefully Bush will get voted out of office in time and this whole thing will flop.

I'll elaborate a bit more on my point of view.

Even if I supported a war, I would never go if I was drafted. As far as I'm conserned, if you aren't getting enough people joining voulintarilly to fight, the war shouldn't be happening, it obviously isn't well supported.

As far as I'm conserned, drafting is at best pointless and at worst dangerous, there are plently of people out there that are not physiclly or mentally capable of going into a combat zone.

Sometimes a draft is necisary. I don;t want to go to war but, to put it simply, I have agrreed top play by the rulls and I can;t stop jsut because Id on;t like them. We live in a democracy and that means compromise. IF things don;t go my way then I have to bite the bullet and do it if I agreee with the system which I do.

Tjhere are plety of peopel out there unfit for combat but the military puts them in places they can be. War inherantly has a negitive impact on poeple, as demonstrated supreemfully int he Vietnam War. I doubt anybody is mentaly capavble of goign itno a combat zone unless they have extensive live training (almost never) or have been in similar situations.

real wars suck.
virtual wars rule.
the world leaders should just play video games... but then I guess it would be too easy to cheat... but if it's war, it wouldn't be cheating...
I'm confused...

I'll be 18 then. F***. I hope it doesn't pass.

Is it me, or is this looking like Vietnam all over again?
If Kerry is prez, at least he'll know how to handle it, eh?

But I don't care if I get drafted or not. I'll serve my country if I have to. I can kill if I have to. I'm not emotional when it comes to that. I got some friends who would gladly go into the war, just to kill people. I don't care either way.

The phrase of the day is: "S*** happens"

heh... you could always feign insanity... like believing you can invoke bullet time at will or something. but then they'd throw you in the crazy house, and I don't know if they have internet connections there or not...

it's one of those things that seems like a good idea at the time, but isn't really, y'know?

Like me bringing computer games into this?

Actually Norsenerd, it depends solely on the game. Some can be simple, and others can be complex, both in design and story, and then you have your MEHTUL Gear Solids 2s...

Moving into a more serious side of discussion, I've always held that democracy is about choice, and so a draft, to me, is at its most basic level an attack on democracy.

Where there is an immediate and serious threat *of invasion?* to my country, I might be persuaded to enter the military, but I'd definitely prefer a non-com role.

But fighting against countries that pose no threat to myself, in a war I wasn't consulted on or support? Oh dear lord sig is fubar. o_o
