I am pleased to see such an interest in technology, being a loyal reader to whatever science and emerging (as opposed to mainstream) techology stuff I can find. I am also deeply interested in environmental issues and what solutions technology and policy changes can do to resolve them. This sounds like the perfect chance to see what we know and see if there's something we have missed that someone else knows.

Economics is good, in that I think understanding how far people have gone to make a business efficent and successful is very important.

Civil Rights is closely tied into politics, and much of it is hotly contested. As much as I would like to share what I think on the matter, saying I am for or against anything causes poor speculation and overgeneralization by people suffering from two-tone perception disease.

I do like stuff about religion and more along the lines of philosophy, but my interest is more on a cultural basis as in saying "This is what I believe" rather than "Everyone that disagrees with me is WRONG!" Of course, this can also be taken the wrong way.

Global conflict is all about trying to accomplish a goal. The proper resolutions to these conflicts are vital, although a play-by-play narration of exchanged blows is not something I find satisfying.

I'm interested in tons of different types of issues.

I'm interested in environmental issues not only because of the importance of saving the planet for ourselves, but also because I think as the dominant species on the planet we have an obligation to try and conserve the world's species (can you guess that I like animals?).

I'm interested in world issues because I like to know what makes our planet tick. Same with political and economic issues as well. I'm especially interested in politics because I get the right to vote in Canada next year and want to be an informed voter.

Technology and science are also of interest to me because I like to have some idea where things are headed, even if I don't have much idea what I myself will be doing in two years (Grade 11 right now). Plus a lot of stuff in this are is just plain cool.

I'm interested in religion and other cultural issue because I think its important for us to understand other cultures if we want to have any chance at not shooting each other to bits.

Maybe we should have a poll, that'd be easier to see where our interests lie.

Go Sparrow! I've taken that quiz many times and my latest results just now were:

Economic Left/Right: -5.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.26
Anami: Sex with a giant, black scorpion seems fun.

<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.

Quote: (Burning Sheep Productions @ May 8 2004, 01:10 AM)

Maybe we should have a poll, that'd be easier to see where our interests lie.

BSP, that would be fine if we knew what were the topics to choose. At the time, I didn't consider much of what y'all mentioned here, and so any such poll I could have made wouldn't have been comprehensive enough.

I made this as more of a write-in poll that would give everyone ideas of what kinds of things we might like to see here and give people like me an idea of whether something we have just learned might be good to share with this community in this forum. Now I know the next time I read about some fascinating piece of technology or some cool news, I can be reminded to post something about it here.
