There is usually not a week when Obama's face isn't plastered on some magazine cover to accentuate his youth and charisma. Now, considering the McCain team picked a socially conservative YOUNG running mate is that an indicaton political parties from now on will emphasise or select younger candidates?
Well, considering how poorly that turned out for McCain, they may instead turn towards finding people experienced and able to do the job, rather than focusing on age or looks alone. But I've been wrong before...

Colin Powell backing Obama adds an intersting twist to everything. I have to admit this puts me a lot closer to the Obama corner. General Powell is someone I've always had great respect for and continue to have respect for. I feel he would have made one helluva good President. I'm still going over both candidates plans with a fine tooth comb right now. It'll most likely be down to the wire with me.

Well, he was president in World War Z if that makes you feel better. He personally arranged for America to kick some zombie ass.

I've read/heard some names for Obama's various department secretary choices, all speculation at this point...

John Kerry for Secretary of State, Larry Summers for the Treasury (same post he had in Clinton's final year) and Hillary Clinton for Health and Human Services. Obama's economic advisor and former Fed chairman Paul Vocker for the Treasury and his foreign policy advisor Susan Rice were also named.

Also, maybe some Republicans; Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel for Defense as well as Indiana Senator Richard Lugar.

I do have a tailor-made navy suit and a pocket full of dreams. I could lead Yankland, damned straight.

Good vote, Arlo, good vote.

For a moment, Arlo, I thought your signature was the answer: You cast a write-in for Nine Inch Nails.

I guess I'll be the one to admit to be voting for McCain. (Yes, despite my politics and D.C. Simpson being a hyperpartisan, this is a great comic strip.) Obama's math doesn't add up. I'm not talking about 57 states, but rather the tax cut for 95% of Americans, funded by tax increases on the top 5%.

First of all, less than 95% of Americans pay income taxes. His "refundable tax credits" will be, for many people, government transfer payments, better known as welfare. If implemented, that will likely make over half of Americans of working age net recipients from the federal government, which will be a dangerous thing.

Second, as a single professional, though earning considerably less than the magic $250,000 a year, I don't believe for a moment that my taxes won't go up under the budget signed by Obama. I am old enough to remember Governor Clinton's proposed middle class tax cut.

Wow...so did I!!! Ok not really. Haven't even voted yet. It's looking more and more like I'll be casting mine on the actual election date.
