According to The James Bond Encyclopedia, Ian Fleming, Bond's creator, was born on this day in 1908. And that means that if he were still alive today, he'd be 100! (Fleming died of a heart attack in 1964, weeks before "Goldfinger was released)
I thought you should know this, since the next Bond film will be released this fall.

Having seen more than half the Bond films, I was interested in this yesterday. But to my surprise, there were no Bond movies showing on any channel I get, and IMDb had nothing to say about him on the main page -- even on the birthday list. What an oversight.

I've seen every Bond movie and read all of Fleming's work, so when I learned that they were making a movie out of Quantum of Solace, I was a bit surprised to say the least... it's a short story, and Bond isn't even a major character in it! Turns out they're using the name of the story, and nothing else... the plot shall be spun out of whole cloth. Not sure how I feel about that... they've done it before, usually with disastrous results (Moonraker, anyone?).

Well, that's unpromising. But at least this time, they're using a title with two big words in it, instead of changing License Revoked to License to Kill for the benefit of Americans with poor vocabularies.

In my opinion, LTK was the worst. 4 people said the S word, including my favorite (Truman-Lodge, less than a minute before Sanchez guns him down). Though it's not the first time a Bond character has said it (Ms. Bell from Live and Let Die was the first to use it), every Bond film that followed Licence didn't use it.
