Okay, okay, I think I've seen enough frivolity thrown in here. If some of you wish to gain an understanding of what was said in the debate but failed to see it for yourselves, I wish to present you with a transcript of the entire 90-minute session. <i>Edit: <!--emo&--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... ns/huh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='huh.gif' /><!--endemo--> now if only I could get the link right!</i> I have much I wish to say about this debate, but I am holding off until I can cover everything presented in there to the best of my ability. If you wish to post someting on any part of the debate, I would like to encourage you to speak up on it.

I watched some of the debates for no other reason than to know what would be going on in the Saturday Night Live debate spoofs. And I ended up missing those ='(

But it's not enough to just see what was said Tavis. Many agree Kerry achieved better this round because of both what he said and how he performed. He was taking notes, he wasn't intimidated, he didn't fidget. Here's more from Josh Marshall's blog...<br><br>"President Bush's reactions during Sen. Kerry's comments looked really bad. I've heard various people say he looked peevish or irritable or tense of sullen or whatever. But what came through to me most though was that he didn't like being up and hearing himself criticized."

You are right on the point about transcripts, but you missed my reasons for sharing them. Sure, transcripts can never fully replace viewing a TV broadcast any more than the broadcast can replace actually being there in person. There are practical issues that keep me from sending you complete video of the debate, and so I provided a transcript for lack of a better source. At the very least, I provided more primary source information than anyone else here offered, and I don't appreciate being talked down for that.<br><br>Before you dare talk down the act of sharing a transcript, maybe you should consider that a transcript can be helpful even to those people who have watched the event. Those watching a debate would have to listen intently for the entire time, trying to drink in every word that was uttered, every furrowed brow, every audiable sigh in order to get a full appreciation. Some words may be missed. In addition to providing missed words, a transcript can trigger memories of what was seen in the video and allow a reader to recall a forgotten key moment. Clearly, just watching the debate once is not enough either.<br><br>Before you accuse me of having an incomplete view, let me tell you I in fact have the debate on tape and have the ability to view that any time as well. I don't have a means of rebroadcasting it for those of you on the forum who did not see it, or else I'd be doing more than linking to transcripts. For those of you who don't have the bandwidth or the computer resources to watch a 90-minute full-screen video (reduction and compression loses subtle information), a transcript is better than nothing.

Er, wait. I clicked the link and it sent me to a transcript of the Democrats' nomination debate back in February! <!--emo&--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' /><!--endemo--> I assume that was a mistake. (Although I see why; it was the first item when I Googled "debate 2004 transcript.)<br><br>Here's <a href='http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/09/ ... nscript.1/' target='_blank'>the real thing</a>.<br><br>And don't forget...the Vice-Presidential debates are tomorrow night!

You completely misread my intent. I said...<br><!--QuoteBegin--> <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' ><tr><td class='quotetop'><b>Quote:</b> </td></tr><tr><td class='quotebody'> it's not enough to just see what was said<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table> <!--QuoteEEnd--><br>That obviously states, though transcripts aren't all, as you yourself said so...<br><!--QuoteBegin--> <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' ><tr><td class='quotetop'><b>Quote:</b> </td></tr><tr><td class='quotebody'> You are right on the point about transcripts<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table> <!--QuoteEEnd--><br>that they <i>are</i> something.<br><br>The rest of my post was almost solely on how both of them performed, glimpses of why the physical actions they took were to their aid or fault, an opinion but i'm entitled to. I'm not saying you aren't to yours but feel you should know that your accusations were wrong. That post was a fine example a moderator should set.

I'll admit it, I inhaled oxygen. But I never smoked.

You are all producing a deadly chemical as we speak. This gas is odorless, colourless, and in mass quantities could be used as a chemical weapon by terrorists.

It's not odorless! It always alerts the guards of my presence!<br><br><br>(okay... color me unnatural for now, but you know this is a rare thing. <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
