Got injured last Thursday night/Friday morning around 12:30 AM, which is why I've been away.

I was standing in front of the refridgerator when I suddenly fell STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE GROUND. I landed on my knees; the bottom halves of my legs went parallel to the ground, perpendicular to my body, if you can picture that. (And if you can, then I hope you can STOP picturing it; it is NOT a normal body pose.)

I was in so much pain that it was all I could do to hobble to a living room chair. I went upstairs to bed a few hours later, then when I had to go to the restroom it took me literally an hour to go down one flight of stairs; my knees were in so much pain that they could not support my weight without the pain going to 11 out of 10.

I made it to the living room where I slept in my chair until morning, when I demanded an ambulance take me to hospital because I could NOT stand up, period. I feel so sorry for the medics who had to get me into the special chair (the stretcher wouldn't fit through our oddly-narrow front door) and carry me down the front stairs; it took four strong firefighters to carry me. (I'm huge.)

Ambulance took me to hospital, when we got there and they were taking me out I experienced the scariest moment of my life... the ambulance started ROLLING BACKWARDS toward the brick wall behind me. Somehow it got shaken out of park, or the driver forgot to set the parking brake. I really thought that the guy taking me out (who was now holding me in) would be crushed to death, and that both of my legs would be severed. Thankfully though, the other medic was able to throw the parking brake at the last second.

Long story short, I have a broken toe (left big toe) and my knees aren't broken, just banged up really bad. I need to stay off of my feet pretty much all the time until I heal, and I need to wear a goofy heavy-soled shoe on my left foot to keep my toe from breaking even more.

So... hi

How/why did you fall?

Also, I may your toe get better and may you never break it off inside someone's rectum.

Hope you get better soon! *sends card*
gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Damn. I'd be pretty scared in that kind of situation.

Do you know the cause of all this?

Anyway, you must gloriously defeat this ailment. For the motherland.

Thanks for the well-wishes.

As for how I fell straight-down? I was standing in front of the (closed) refrigerator, thinking of what I wanted to eat, when... I fell asleep standing up. No freaking lie.

Yes. My desire for food is rivaled only by my desire for sleep.

Man, if it wasn't such an ordeal for you that would be kinda funny.

Yeah I fell asleep standing up. Sleep apnea sucks.
Sleep apnea is a breathing problem. What you describe sounds more like narcolepsy. Or are you saying that sleep apnea prevented you from getting enough sleep before, hence the sudden conk-out?

Sorry about your pain, anyway.

Sleep apnea prevented me from getting enough sleep before, hence the sudden conk-out. I have been very, very bad with regard to compliance... I haven't used my CPAP machine for a month, so I am prone to narcoleptic-like symptoms, but I do not have narcolepsy (they checked). This was a real wake-up call... when I am able to get back upstairs, I will be compliant with my CPAP, that's for sure!

Thanks for your concern. :)

Ouch, that sounds really painful. I recently fell down at work and have had a rather large bruise on my knee that's been bothering me a lot recently, but it's nowhere near as bad as your incident.

Here's to quick healing.

Sweet, you got the reference. I think Jon uses (almost) that exact quote in a strip where Garfield falls asleep while reaching for some salt for his food.
