L4D2 ~ DC Mutations

Postby Blizzard » Sun Sep 18, 2011 11:29 am

Information:

This is the L4D2 DC mutations addon! Simply download the file and place it into your L4D2 addons folder. Make sure L4D2 is not running when you place the file inside the folder. Also make sure that you do not have any other mutation-related addons in your folder (common ones include 'mutations.vpk', 'official and custom mutations.vpk', 'missing audio.vpk', and 'hidden maps and weapons unlocked.vpk'). I'm not 100% sure if this works on macs but feel free to try, if it doesn't then let me know and I will look into fixing it. Since super-frequent updates would be a bit inconvenient, I will likely update this once a week at the least. You can check your current version number by going to L4D2's main menu, clicking 'Extras', then 'Add-ons', and selecting 'DC Mutations'.

Any mutation that is below version 1.00 is a work in progress. The author appreciates feedback, suggestions, and bug reports, feel free to reply with these! You can also suggest a mutation to be made under your name!

Addon folder filepath:
Windows XP - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons
Windows 7 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons
Mac - Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons

Simply select DC Mutations on the main menu, select a mutation, make a lobby and play!

IMPORTANT:
~ These mutations require Local Server selected in the game lobby to function. Do not select Official Dedicated or Best Available Dedicated for your server option.
~ Certain mutations require a certain setup in the lobby when starting. Few mutations do this, but please keep it in mind! "Last Duel on Earth" is an example of such a mutation.

Mutations:
L4D1.5 (Version 0.01, Author: Bliz) [Mode: Campaign]
"More difficult, more fair, more like L4D1 and more like L4D2 was supposed to be."
Changes:

Code: Select all

Weapons: -Assault Rifle / AK-47 / Desert Rifle reserve ammo reduced from 360 to 160 -Tactical Shotgun / Combat Shotgun reserve ammo reduced from 90 to 50 -Hunting Rifle reserve ammo reduced from 150 to 90 -Sniper Rifle reserve ammo reduced from 180 to 90 -Submachine Gun / Silenced Submachine Gun reserve ammo reduced from 650 to 300 -Pump Shotgun / Chrome Shotgun reserve ammo reduced from 56 to 50 -Grenade Launcher reserve ammo reduced from 30 to 9 -Grenade Launcher damage doubled - any Special Infected can be instant-killed on a direct hit, witches can be killed with about 2 direct hits, and tanks can be killed with about 4 direct hits. -Increased the Grenade Launcher's projectile velocity to slightly more than triple -M60 reserve ammo increased to 150 from 0. The current clip can be reloaded with ammo from the reserve clip, but still cannot be reloaded from an ammo pile. Using an ammo upgrade will only upgrade ammo in the current clip instead of giving you a new clip with upgraded ammo, so reload the M60 before using an ammo upgrade. If the current clip reaches 0 ammo, the M60 will jam and become unusable, even if reserve ammo remains. -All melee weapons are removed (including the chainsaw) -The magnum is removed -The bile jar effect duration has been decreased from 20 seconds to 12 seconds. The bile jar is now also capable of friendly fire. Special Infected: -Jockey movement speed doubled -Jockey lunge distance/height halved -The Charger is no longer immune to shoving, unless he is pounding a survivor (a pounding charger is still vulnerable to death by shoving) -If the Charger hits a survivor during the beginning of his charge, he will no longer grab them -The Charger's cooldown on his charge ability is now 2 seconds, down from 12 -The radius in which a Wandering Witch will notice a survivor has been nearly doubled -The Wandering Witch will now instantly startle upon noticing a survivor -Witches now kill an incapacitated survivor a bit more than three times faster
L4D1.5 Realism (Version 0.02, Author: Bliz) [Mode: Realism]
"An enhanced Realism mode of L4D1.5."
Changes:

Code: Select all

-All L4D1.5 changes are intact -Pistols now have 150 reserve ammo, down from infinite. Pistols can only be reloaded from other pistols, not ammo piles -Pistols appear more often than usual -HUD and all glows removed (DEVELOPER NOTE: All feedback is appreciated but I would especially like to know what you think of the pistol change! Is it too much/little ammo? Are pistols too scarce/plentiful in maps?)
First Come First Startled (Version 0.02, Author: Tai) [Mode: Campaign]
"You'll think twice about taking point with ammo harder to find and witches hunting for survivors!"
Changes:

Lolswarm (Version 0.02, Author: Jason) [Mode: Campaign]
Changes:

Code: Select all

-Common infected health halved -Common infected speed reduced by about 20% -Survivors start with an infinite ammo M60 and a baseball bat. Other weapons do not spawn -Hordes are constant and spawn at least twice the normal amount of common infected -Special Infected do not spawn

"One survivor, one infected. Who will prevail?"
NOTE: This must be played with one survivor and one infected. Do not start with more than two people in the lobby!
Changes:

Code: Select all

-Common infected do not spawn -Only 1 survivor spawns -Only 1 player-controlled infected spawns -If the survivor is pinned, once he is incapacitated he will be instantly revived in black-and-white status -Chargers are no longer immune to shoving
Left In The Dark (Version 0.01, Author: Bliz) [Mode: Realism]
"Finding your way around this unusually dark night won't be easy...but darkness doesn't bother zombies."
Changes:

Code: Select all

-Lights cannot be seen from a long distance, excluding other survivor's flashlights -Survivors cannot see far infront of them due to the darkness -All glows are disabled
Forlorn Expedition (Version 0.01, Author: Bliz) [Mode: Campaign]

Once you use up your 8 shots, you cannot get more ammo unless you die and respawn -Survivors cannot fire weapons while incapacitated: attempting to do so will only waste ammo -Weapons and grenades do not spawn -Common infected do not spawn -The Charger is no longer immune to shoving, unless he is pounding a survivor (a pounding charger is still vulnerable to death by shoving) -The tank is slightly slower

Changes:

Code: Select all

-Common infected do not spawn -Special infected do not spawn -Tanks spawn more often -Hordes have been replaced with "tank hordes", randomly spawning groups of tanks. Tank hordes also appear when leaving the saferoom. Random tank hordes are less frequent than normal hordes
