On a scale of one to ten, where one is not very cute and ten is unbelievably adorable, where would you rate this fox? Would you view this fox again?

Last fall, at 8 pm when it was dark outside, I was driving my mother to the grocery store to pick up a prescription for her. I was stopped at a stop sign and I spotted what I thought was a dog at the foot of a driveway. Then it got up and ran across the street toward the river, and despite the poor light I could distinguish that it had the shape, as well as the dark legs and tail tip, of a red fox. It disappeared and I drove on.

I mentioned the story to my sister. She does not like foxes however, since one time one of them chased one of her cats in her yard.

There's a trainspotting fox that sits by the rails and watches our train to work most mornings O:

There's a fox that roots through our dustbins. I have to chase it away with a stick before it rips the bags because otherwise the dustmen don't pick the rubbish up.

Bloody foxes.

A former elderly neighbor of my mother's hated squirrels because one time a squirrel got into her house and tore everything up. In fact, while my mother was driving her and a squirrel was running across the road, the neighbor said, "Is that a squirrel? Kill it! Kill it!" My mother refused.

The foxes are looking fairly plump and healthy around here this year. This is good.

No foxes in Houston. Nooope.

Edit: I just realized that I've never seen a fox in real life!

Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...

So that we may someday understand...

Foxes... scream. Seriously, the normal sound of a fox sounds like a bloodcurdling scream.

Yeah, my dog used to be scared furless over that. She'd also chase after foxes and then have no idea what to do when she caught them. Nearly had a couple of rabies scares over that.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen a wild fox in real life either. All the local wildlife pretty much stays out of sight where I live because of all the rednecks that purposefully try and run them over (besides really small things like squirrels and rabbits). Also, the fox scream thing reminded me of this article.

I saw some deer a few weeks ago. Can I be part of the cool animal watching club? :<
