it depends on the label, really. big labels with inexperienced musicians try to convince the artist/band to sign away all rights for a lump sum.

On another note, Divided by Nightis awesome. It's only been out for a few weeks now, but one of the singles, Drown in the Now, has to have some of the best lyrics I've ever heard.

There are a few artists I'm particularly obsessed with at the moment, the primary one being William Fitzsimmons. Sort of like Iron & Wine, beard and all.

Another one is Greg Laswell. Not sure whom he sounds like - he's your standard acoustic singer-songwriter type, but lovely nonetheless.
