Anyway, there's also sudo bash, which is pretty similar to sudo su.
(Besides, sudo isn't pronounced "sue-doe", it's pronounced "sue-do")

Everyone I know pronounces it like 'pseudo'. Also, sudo -s does much the same thing as sudo su/sudo bash.
