Binary is base 2 (numbers 0 and 1), octal is base 8 (numbers 0-7), and hexidecimal is base 16 (numbers 0-F)<br>Base 5 would be just another base.. numbers whose digits are only the numbers 0 through 4.

Thanks, Tavis, but I still don't see how that gets 2004=32004. If it has something to do with codes and stuff, I know nothing about computers, so forgive me if I sound stupid. I think I'm the only person left who isn't studying computers; I'm gonna be a biochem major, so I'm not taking any computer courses.

Let's see.. 32004 (base 5) = 3*5^4 + 2*5^3 + 4*5^0 = 3*(625) + 2*(125) + 4(1) = 1875 + 250 + 4 = 2129... umm.. someone messed up here.<br><br>2004/5 = 400 remainder 4<br>400/5 = 80 remainder 0<br>80/5 = 16 remainder 0<br>16/5 = 3 remainder 1(!)<br>Ah.. 2004 = 31004 (base 5)<br>

yeah, base 5 means, instead of counting like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10... it goes 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20, etc. 5, displayed at base 5, is 10. 6 would be 11, and so on and so on.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

Your computer gets them all the time.. they taste really bland though... like paper. The digital form might taste different, but I don't remember after the power surge.

I barly know anything about computers. I only know math and a few other things too but with computers I'm largly ingornt. Except for security. I know a fair amount about information security.

Great.. maybe you can tell me a couple things I might have missed in securing my laptop. I've been (still am) running Win98 on this desktop and so my security knowledge on the WinXP wireless-ready laptop is limited to NortonAV, Windows updates, and whatever else I stumble upon as a possible leak.

Hrmm, by me being able to program in GML (Game Maker Language) and HTML and half understand some Javascript, does that make me one of them geeks even though it's a plain hobby and I've got no intention in making it a job or anything?
