The only thing we can do is make it quicker.

*squinting eyes and huddled in the back corner*<br>did it crash again????? it must have, it's crashed an inumerable amount since a few days ago.... did it? no? NO! <span style='font-size:16pt;line-height:100%'>HOLY SWEET MERCIFUL CRUD! IT WORKS AGAIN!</span><br>I think there was a flaw in Microsofts code (hmm, imagine that! <!--emo&--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->) that causes certain ISPs to cause death to the computer, at least on this e-machines!<br>in any case, i've been connected for a bit now, and so far so good. It hasn't lasted this long for a little while now. the unfortunate thing is that right now... i'm connected through AOL!!! *ugh* well, since i live in close proximity to VA, it's not quite so bad right now. On the plus side, i'm online again!<br>Oh, and I'd like to make a formal apology to tavis, he caught the blunt end of my reaction to the computer crashing. I had some rather nice strings of swears, and those who know me can tell you that that doesn't happen to often. That was particularly bad for me that night, although any construction worker would laugh at me for saying that was a bad string of profanities! So, I apologize tavis! (after months and months of this thing having problem after problem after problem after problem, all software related and things that were seemingly unrelated, but always resulted uin the loss of something, i was rather... if I use the word that comes to mind, those who are not from america would first read it and think "drunk", so I'll say angry.)

A connection thru AOL is still better than no connection at all.<br><br>Hope that thing keeps working. Perhaps you need to have it blessed? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My computer does the same thing. When it's not greeting me with the blue screen of death and cackling evily, my internet connection goes down. I have a wireless network at my house. To anyone considering a wireless network, here's my advise: try every other possible way to hardwire it, because wireless networks decide to stop working for no reason about every 5th day, and stay down for 18-30 hours. And it's never the whole network that goes down, just my computer. If you are condemned to a wireless network, I guess linksys is the top brand for it, but it's still entirely unreliable. I uninstall and reinstall the software about every other day to get it to reconnect, and that only works about 35% of the time. Why can't I just have a stable connection?

FoxChild.. the swearing wasn't so bad, but the fact that they were in a HUGE font that filled a couple screenfuls of characters set in groups of four didn't help.. hehe It's alright. I'd probably have beaten my desk to the ground if my computer were misbehaving that badly.

I have a wireless network in my house for the sole purpose of getting laptops onto my network. I typically despise wireless networks, and it's hard not to pity people who want me to install a wireless network to connect two computers that are on the same floor of a house, or even in the same room. It's kinda like attaching a wireless mouse to a computer that has plenty of convenient desk space and that has no need for the mouse to be that far from the system. It's a silly waste of wireless bandwidth.

Well, we have two computers in one room on the 1st floor of my house and they're wired directly into the network, not wireless. My comp and my brother's comp are on the 2nd floor, and that's where problems occur. The strange thing is, it never disconnects because the signal from the main router is too weak--it's always strong. The wireless monitor will claim the signal connection to be 'excellent' or sometimes 'good,' and the connection to the internet still fails. It's not a problem with connecting to the network and other computers. It connects to those easily, but it just won't connect to the internet. I've come close to throwing my USP-port wireless adapter out the window several times.

Somebody and I were once helping a small business owner with his network. We never could get the stupid wireless network to cooperate. The only way anything could see the wireless router was if it was within about a foot. Kind of defeats the point of wireless if your range is that pathetic.<br><br>We all said "the hell with it" and used good old-fashioned CAT5 cabling instead.
