FelixLockhart brought up the subject of TI graphing calculator fandom and in the process made me wonder who else likes those handheld gizmos enough to do stuff ouside of class with 'em. Anywho, as an owner of a TI-85, 86, 89, and 92+, I have had a lot of background on programming and using them. Heck, I've even uploaded some programs to <a href='http://www.ticalc.org' target='_blank'>ticalc.org</a> and made screenshots on my homepage.<br><br>Of course, I'd like to see some of your thoughts on the subject..

Dear me, another Calculator Geek, I wouldn't have thought I'd have met another one of you outside of ti.com/calc, back in my Captain Ginyu days, I was almost as well known as the likes of Ray Kremer and Frank Westlake.<br><br>I take it this link means something to you<br><br><a href='http://www.ticalc.org' target='_blank'>Ti-Calc.</a>

I used to go there almost daily, but after graduation I kinda lost interest in programming for calculators. I used to write huge intricate programs, with various formulas programmed in and stuff. I never wrote any complex games, but since I was the only person in my high school with a PC link cable, I pretty much controlled the flow of calculator software into the school (gee, that sounds like a drug reference). One of these days I might resurrect my program archives <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I know a guy who programmed a DBZ fighting game on a TI-83. He's in college studying, guess what, computer programming. Wow. I don't think he has the game anymore, but I'll see if I can find it.

BSP: Sometimes.. the calculators themselves have their own programming languages, TI-BASIC collectively. They're different for each calculator. Of course, some smart (or lucky) people hacked the early calculators to program in ASM, and all was good. Then TI finally gave up and made ASM easier to access in their newer machines.. Whatever language people write for them now depends merely on what languages compilers can translate into the calculator's executable code.<br><br>I only wrote stuff in TI-BASIC.

I just remember someone in my high school had a two player wolfenstein game for the TI-89. No idea where it came from, but it was totally boss to the max.<br><br>...<br><br>No really, it was cool.

I made a program!<br>It was basicly:<br><!--c1--> <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->Text "Hello!"<br>Text "I like cheese."<br>Text "Bye bye!"<!--c2--></td></tr></table> <!--ec2--><br>And then one that shows a random number between 0 and 10, and one with heaps of message boxes forming into an animation.

I have a TI 83, and made lots of very useless programs on it. I made matrix-style programs like this:<br><!--c1--> <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1--><br>Lbl 1<br>Disp randint(1,9,7)<br>Goto 1<br>Stop<br><!--c2--></td></tr></table> <!--ec2--><br><br>And more than ten variations <!--emo&B)--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... s/cool.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='cool.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'm a TI calc geek as well. I know a lot about the mathmatical apications of them (gee go figure, I'm a math major). I've gotin out of practice with getting maple and matlab for my comp. They blow the grahing calculators out of the watter. My mother comes in and has me teach her high schollers how to use their calulators. I didn't have very meny games for my calulator and din't program almost any. I did do a lot of calulator art though. Some of it was realy good. Other then that most of my programs are for math.
