What Kind Of Computer Are You Using?
Moderator:Æron
Dr. Doog.. I knew because I had bought the components seperately and keep all the manuals together when I can... I seem to have misplaced my mainboard's manual, or else I'd have told you its make, model, manufacturer and such too. I did remember a few things about the chipset because I had the fun of installing the OS onto a blank hard drive.

This isn't what I have, but my god do I want one...the specs would be a little low, but I honestly don't care...
Yaay! I found my manual! Umm.. Good thing too because I just replaced the microprocessor, processor fan, and DVD drive tonight (hence why I showed up so late tonight.. stupid mainboard settled badly and one of the SDRAM cards got loose. I had to takethe whole thing apart and pull out the mainboard to reseat it!

Anyhow..
Processor: AMD K6-2 500MHz (was 333)
Mainboard: PC100 SystemBoard Socket 7 M571LMR with TX PRO-II chipset (whatever that is supposed to mean)
built-in video, sound, modem, LAN, USB...

DVD-ROM: Umm.. I don't know the brand, but it has an 8X on the front, an improvement over the slower Memorex.

question:
I'm trying to find a good 17 inch monitor... isn't Liquid Crystal Display that thing they use to make the MP3s and calculators and those primitive handheld games like... the ones that star mr. game and watch?
(I don't use primitive as an insult here, just in case there is a misunderstanding.)

in essence, to my knoledge, yes. it basically equals a flat screen moniter. I could very well be mistaken, as hardware is not my strongest point. I know basics, such as video cards, sound cards, ram, & extra drives (which i guess isn't such a basic knowledge). As for moniters, I've used the same one for years and years now, and i got it for free so I will never complain about it (this is my personal moniter, not the one on the e-machines), especially soince its good. I never really had to consider moniters.

yea, i just looked it up on newegg.com and found a 17' black cased flatscreen LCD moniter that can support 16.7 million colors. so thats the only difference.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.
