A post where you may explain the avatar and/or title you have. Its a broad enough topic as to where it (hopefully) wont die off like my other seed topics
My avatar, im not ENTIRELY sure where I got it; I save some interesting pictures/animations on my computer to send to friends from time to time, and this one is small enough to fit most size and dimentional restrictions.
My title comes from a long discussion with a friend: We were discussing how spelling in the engrish langrage is odd. Somewhere in school we learned that english letters represent a basic sound each, but some letters like k and c, or o and u in this case, could be interchanged when they're pronounced a certain way. I said that you could for instance spell moo "mou", my friend disagreed, and that led to us both saying "mou" over and over for quite awhile.

Saveedro needs no explanation. He's just a madman who's been trapped on an island for 20 years "by two greedy little boys ... Sirrus and Achenar," to quote his words.

As for my title, that's a bit more complicated. You see, I have a very nice Google tshirt that I wear occasionally. So, last week, I wore it to my "Intro to Network Systems" course (which is really more of a "Intro to HTML and Internet Infrastructure" course). Anyways, as luck would have it, we were assigned a search engine project. One of them was "The History of Google" and my teacher (who has a good sense of humour) made some comment to the effect of "I can tell Mike just really wants to get that one, with his Google shirt." And then I, in a moment of wisdom, blurted out, "What, do you think I'm GoogleBoy or something?" You have to understand that this sort of exchange of wit and dry sarcasm happens at least once with someone every time the class meets. And, well, you can probably guess what happened.

Look! Behind the computer!
It's a nerd!
No, it's a geek!
No, it's GOOGLEBOY!

Searching faster than a frenzied rotweiler,
Through more data than the Library of Congress,
Able to browse through hyperlinks in a single click,
It's GOOGLEBOY, the webgeek of search!

I sincerely apologize for that. Inspiration struck, and I had to strike back.

Well my avatar is just a picture of me and my title is exactly what it sounds like.

Since those are both boring I'll explain my name as well. The_Sparrow_ is a reference to the old poem/nursery rythme "Who Killed Cock Robin"

"Who killed Cock Robin?
I said the Sparrow
with my bow and arrow
I killed Cock Robin"

The whole poem can be found here
Name's Timon Rustfur, call me Squeak.

Well, my avatar, goes like this:

SaladMan kicked ass. but, he doesn't post here anymore. so, I decided to revive his memory, by finding the old avatar he used to use, and recoloring it to differentiate me from him. also, he was my last doppelgangee. well, I couldn't find the picture, so I just took the pencil copy he had on the net, and I cropped it, colored it, and transparencized it.

<s>I don't know what my title is, so I'll have to edit this post.</s>

oh, ahem. well, I am not the SaladMan. got it?

Well I'll start here.

Quote: (GhostWay @ Dec 5 2004, 12:58 PM)

And I've tried using a dynamic image php script for avatars here, but the board doesn't allow it.

I just kinda felt like that was a challenge, so I went over to my website, and quickly wrote the PHP code that generated my random avatar (which I changed a couple of times to make it easier to add images to), and the redirects that get it to work here. At the moment, all the images are ones that I drew, except for this one, which is taken from this strip.

As for the title, it is a slight change to Millie's famous line, "Look! I'm a waffle!", and was chosen to complement the changing avatar. (It's also one of my personality traits - I won't make up my mind on almost anything.)

Well, Isolde rules. And George W. Bush does not. And if Bush ever shuts up, the world will be a better place.

Okay, just remember you asked . . .

As far as my handle and my title, there's a little bit of personal history behind them.

- VisibilityMissing: " . . . Visibility: Missing . . ." was an error message that we used to get on the automated weather station in Gambell, Alaska when the atmospheric pressure took a rapid dive (which was quite often). I took that up as a handle when I used it as a hard disk name on a new computer I bought during a winter when we had several winter storms (read: blizzards) in succession that I climbed my way through the mile or so to get to work in the morning.

- "Domesticated denizen of the Arctic" : I've lived in Alaska, on the Arctic Coast and on an island in the Sub-Arctic, for 13 or 14 years. I'm now living in the city of Chicago, thereby having been somewhat "domesticated."

-Avatars: I've been using avatars pulled from old Sidney Harris cartoons that are related to my subjects of interest: physics and math (I'm a physics teacher, after all). I was very fond of the idea of a "Department of Entropy", because life often feels like it should have one. And the idea of having a road sign like the one in my current avatar just seemed really funny to me.

Given the nature of this board, my title's source should be fairly obvious

As for my avatar, it's a shameless ripoff (well, recolor anyway) of Tails that I came up with whilst screwing around in Photoshop. I'm not making him my fursona or anything, though it has earned me the nickname "Phox" in some places.

And finally, my name. Simply put, it's my initials in Greek letters based on uninformed research. By all rights I should have gone with "Pietaeta" but that seemed a bit off... drop an "eta" and accidentally use "Phi" instead of "Pi," and there you have it. (My brother's online name is his initials in Greek letters as well.)

X is for eXtensibility and eXtendibility, my favorite concepts. (No it isn't for eXtreme)

As for ThunderFox, it refers to Thunder, or force of unpredictable stregnth in sudden bursts, and Fox, an elusive, sly, yet loyal creature, fond of his suroundings, and of a lover of nature. Foxs can't be predicted, they're behavior defies definition, and thus are feared until known. Clearly my architype.

As for the Laughing Man, another refrence I give myself in my LJ blog. I will have to say this, it's quite a long explination. If you truely are interested, start researching. You'll dig up a lot! Just try and sort through it all. I'm sure only a few people here could. Ghostway, no doubt, Tavis I bet, Shifty for sure, and FoxChild if he put his mind to it, same with Burning Sheep.

My avatar is yet to be made. I'm thinking of making a temporary one with my "Ruedii-X" signature and "Thunderfox" siganture.

My Avatar is simply my personal mascot, a symbiotic orcinus orca.

The Orca is probobly my favorite animal, next to the Eagle,Fox and the Spider.
Ive come to respect them after learning about them in ancient native american lore. Especially the legends of Natselane and the Thunderbird.

Oh..and no, Orcas do not eat people, they are not dangerous, they are actually quite friendly. But they are still wild animals and must be respected as such.

anyway..thats my story and im stickin to it.
My avitar was drawn by FoxChild... Actually it was a full picture that he drew of me, but I shrunk the face down to a 100x100 avitar.

My name was invented by me, taking three common words and mashing them together to form a new one.
