I got my Iowa test score back today. Compared to the rest of the United States, I'd say I did pretty well. <br><br>Do any of you still remember them/have them?

I aced he Science section. I've got Science genes. <!--emo&^_^--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /happy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='happy.gif' /><!--endemo--> <br><br>Unfortunately for my genes I'd much rather be a writer or an artist.

We had them in elementary.<br><br>Now we have the "terranovas" which we haven't had since like 8th grade now that I think of it.<br><br>A few times I did better than 99% of the country on the Iowas though.

<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.

(Funny since we were in Indian). The funny thing is that even those test scores didn't convince the teachers that I was smarter than they thought, and they still thought I was a below average student. This continued through all of school, which is why I hate conventional schooling. <br><br>Yes, I used the word hate, I rarely use that word as it is an ugly word, but it truely fits in this case. I still can't blame the teachers for it, they were just doing as they were taught, it's society's problem as a whole, and has evolved into a stand alone complex of treating people like this throughout society. Anyone who follows conformism can't help it.

Aaagh!<br><br>I still get flashbacks about the ITBS, the CAT, the SAT, and the ACT . . . one continuous chain of pencil bubbles.<br><br>Oh, and they don't stop after high school. Most recently I had to take the teacher cert test here in Illinois: the general teacher knowledge, math teaching, and physics teaching tests were around 4 - 5 hours <b>each</b>.<br><br><!--QuoteBegin-Ozymandias+Dec 15 2004, 05:36 PM--> <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' ><tr><td class='quotetop'><b>Quote:</b> (Ozymandias @ Dec 15 2004, 05:36 PM)</td></tr><tr><td class='quotebody'> Are they anything like SATs? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table> <!--QuoteEEnd--><br>Well, if you're talking about the Scholastic Aptitude Tests, they used to be primarily used by colleges to test the aptitude of 11 - 12 year students in the states. The SAT is more of a logical and verbal ability test than an achievement test.<br><br>Currently, the preference has swung toward the ACT.<br><br>All of these have roots in the old army alpha tests, intelligence tests used to segregate out who was going to officer school during the early 20th century.<br><br>As you may be able to tell, I'm not a big fan of standardized tests . . .

Iowa tests, hmm, don't recall. But then, I've forgotten my SAT scores too. Which is a good thing, because I've reached a point where they don't matter anymore. <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo--><br>

As an educator, I think this one also says a lot, in these days of <br><br><b>"All Children Left Behind"</b><br><br><!--QuoteBegin--> <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' ><tr><td class='quotetop'><b>Quote:</b> </td></tr><tr><td class='quotebody'> One ignores the interconnectedness of things at one's own peril<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
