Iowa Tests

I got my Iowa test score back today. Compared to the rest of the United States, I'd say I did pretty well. Do any of you still remember them/have them?

I thought I still had them, but it seems I don't. I did very well if I remember correctly, dunno how well though.

We had them in elementary. Now we have the "terranovas" which we haven't had since like 8th grade now that I think of it. A few times I did better than 99% of the country on the Iowas though.

(Funny since we were in Indian). The funny thing is that even those test scores didn't convince the teachers that I was smarter than they thought, and they still thought I was a below average student. This continued through all of school, which is why I hate conventional schooling. Yes, I used the word hate, I rarely use that word as it is an ugly word, but it truely fits in this case. I still can't blame the teachers for it, they were just doing as they were taught, it's society's problem as a whole, and has evolved into a stand alone complex of treating people like this throughout society. Anyone who follows conformism can't help it.

Aaagh! I still get flashbacks about the ITBS, the CAT, the SAT, and the ACT . . . one continuous chain of pencil bubbles. Oh, and they don't stop after high school. Most recently I had to take the teacher cert test here in Illinois: the general teacher knowledge, math teaching, and physics teaching tests were around 4 - 5 hours each.  <table border='0' align='center' width='95%' ><tr><td class='quotetop'>Quote: (Ozymandias @ Dec 15 2004, 05:36 PM)</td></tr><tr><td class='quotebody'> Are they anything like SATs? </td></tr></table>  Well, if you're talking about the Scholastic Aptitude Tests, they used to be primarily used by colleges to test the aptitude of 11 - 12 year students in the states. The SAT is more of a logical and verbal ability test than an achievement test. Currently, the preference has swung toward the ACT. All of these have roots in the old army alpha tests, intelligence tests used to segregate out who was going to officer school during the early 20th century. As you may be able to tell, I'm not a big fan of standardized tests . . .

Iowa tests, hmm, don't recall. But then, I've forgotten my SAT scores too. Which is a good thing, because I've reached a point where they don't matter anymore. <img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />
