http://www.csiguide.com/forums/topic.as ...

At least that's something to explain the episode.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

I'm bumping this because I finally saw the episode -- those of you who never got to see it can get a movie file of it HERE. Anywho, it sounds almost like they were trying to make people think they made up the whole furry thing, it's so unrealistic. I can't imagine people taking that stuff seriously.

Plus, it's Las Vegas anyway ... if there was a furry con there it probably would be like that.

A general rule which seems to get ignored by show producers quite often: Never assume that the audience is as knowledgeable on the subject as you are. Also, do not mislead the audience, for you are sure to upset someone.

Bush obviously led people into believing that Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction". Why then should it be so hard for a television show to put forth an inaccurate view of a subculture which they likely know nothing about?

This is an example of but one of several reasons that I keep the television stowed away for all but one hour of the week.

If you don't take it seriously then it's blimmin hilarious, you gotta love that bit where the cat "girl" removes her costume.

I've had people ask me "how can you take something like furry seriously?" My answer: I don't. It's something fun and goofy; if you take it seriously, it becomes too much. Fur-bashers love it when furs freak out at bashing and go nuts. The best thing to do is not care. If you're a fur and you don't care, then fur-bashers just look stupid because they care too much about something they aren't a part of.

Once you take something seriously, you get uptight over it and that's how people get pissed off and angry.

Edit: and yes, SexyKitty was awesome.

That's why I can't help but stare incredulously reading about the failed "burned fur" movement. Face it, if you're part of a fandom that includes people who wear fursuits in public (not just conventions, I hear) or role-play animals online and stuff, you can't really get away with taking yourself too seriously.

BTW, I've heard the CSI team have a general tendency to end up investigating in kinda sleazy places. Is that more or less true?
