Hey, folks. Here's a entry I copied and pasted from the ol' live journal that I'm hoping to get your insight on. I'm still not sure which one I should lean to.<br><br>I still need another half-credit for physical education for next year. We're filling out our desired schedules as of now, and I've discovered that we actually have a walking class! And seniors are eligable! And we get credid for it! Hell, I've walked before for four and a half hours just for the hell of it, and I can certainly do it for accademic purposes. Plus, I'm tall, and my leg length advantage will go to good use. But here's the thing: I'm out of shape. If I go and take a physical education class that I can do on auto-pilot, then there'll be this thing in the back of my head bugging me about how I could be doing something productive for my health. The other option on the table is weight training. I'll undoubtably embarass myself every class period with how little I can lift, but I can at least be doing a favor to my poor physique for that semester. Plus, I hear the teacher's kinda' dumb, so if I didn't want to do any lifting one day then it wouldn't be hard skipping out on it and him not noticing. Right, so I can take a class I'll certainly hate and be productive with my physical abilities for a change, or I can take a class I'll love and miss out on the rewards that come with putting yourself through something that you don't like. I could use your say on this.

Walking <b>is</b> good for you. To the point that the UK health people recomend walking at least 10,000 steps a day to stay in shape.

I'd say weight training simply because it's the more rewarding of the two.<br><br>Sure walking is good, but weight lifting burns more calories and helps you stay in shape better.

true, but as you work at it, you get stronger, and find yourself looking and feeling better. Thats certainly rewarding.

As such, the muscles will weaken when they're not used. And, iirc, muscles when not used basically turn to fat. Only muscles are heavier than fat, so they'd probably turn to more fat than the fat they got rid of.

I would take weight training personally. I walk over 25000 steps a day. I need weights.

The embarrassment you would have lifting weights at first should not be as bad as the embarrassment of being out of shape for the rest of your life.<br><br>I have no viable excuse for not lifting weights.

I'd say walking, that just seems a better option to me.<br><br>Weight training might be hard if your upper body strength isn't good.
