Idea: Drawing Weeks

Postby Æron » Sun Sep 13, 2009 3:36 am

Drawing nights don't seem to be working as well anymore partially due to scheduling issues. It's hard to find times when everyone can participate simultaneously. So, I propose this: Drawing Weeks. Same idea as drawing nights, except the submission period will last a week. Given the extra time, it could also expand the possibilities of what people could submit. This is not to replace Drawing Nights, but to compensate for how few and far in between successful Drawing Nights are becoming. What do you think?

I like this idea in theory.

In effect, like the drawing contests we used to have, when people here drew Ozy and Millie?

I had a similar idea like this. I think this would work out quite well.

I would probably participate since there's (virtually) no time constraints.

I think I would be less likely to participate in this sort of thing, but we'll see.

I think it's a good idea. and then at the end of the week, people submit what they came up with. If anything, it can used as a tool to get people who enjoy drawing/writing to start drawing/writing more

I am more likely to participate in this type of thing. Fewer time-constraints x_x

I like this, except it sorta kills a little bit of the social aspect. Then again, I'm not good at talking and drawing at the same time anyway.

this could be cool, in addition to random drawing nights to get the social aspect going.

I think I can see where Jason's coming from in that it lacks the spontaneity and urgency of the timed drawing nights and their raw sketchy feel. But if it gets a little more art into the system, why not?

Maybe it won't get as many people in the same area talking like drawing nights but with a week people will have time to work on their drawings and maybe show WIP pictures?

Yeah. I like that idea with the WIP :O

I still think it's something that can jumpstart the artists into drawing actual complete things. It allows us time to actual perfect and polish a piece of work. I don't see why it would lower the social aspect. People can still talk about it and show off their artwork as they work on it. Also, it makes the forum more active.
This idea does more good than bad. And really, there isn't any bad at all in it :P We can still do drawing nights.
