Updated pic of Millie. Made yo-yo a proper circle, re-inked and re-colored. I like this a lot better.

Some doodles I did at work while waiting for time to start the movies. I read, too but the art helps create more variety during the day.

They are copied from the books: 50 Cats, 50 Famous Cartoon Characters, and 50 Cartoon Animals.

The unfinished one at the botom is Snagglepuss.

I also have a Locke/Mudd pic done. It just needs to be inked and colored. I will finish it either tomorrow or Saturday.

I really like the one that (for lack of a better description on my part) looks like an angry Sonic the Hedgehog. I just dig the style...

LOL! It's supposed to be Felix The Cat doing his famous "walks on" pose. After I finished it, I knew it reminded me of another charcter but I couldn't figure out who.

Maybe I'll try an actual Sonic pic soon.

And...thanks! My own style is slowly appearing. I just needed to stop copying things exactly and just go with the flow.

More doodles. I'm trying a looser style and not worrying about how close mine is to the original. That was the problem with my yo-yo Millie drawing. I wanted it to be an exact copy of the orignal cast picture (minus yo-yo). That was the intent and it took me months to achieve.

But, given the tracing comments, I need to just relax and draw for the sake of drawing. I decided to abandon the "altered cast drawing" and just concentrate on learning the craft. If I can produce something that is close to the original I'm copying, that's better than an exact duplicate. I am learning. In fact, I suddenly realized what I've been doing wrong in my attempts to draw O&M so I'll be trying them again soon.

I also didn't draw at all during my vaction last week. It helped reset things after my meltdown. I can see improvement. I also noticed this week that drawing also has a calming effect on me. A nice side benefit!

Some of these are the same but it was easier to scan the entire page rather than isolating the new images. Enjoy!

Switching to dragons to help improve my skills.

More dragons. However, these had no step-by-step directions. They were skecthes from the intro to the book I'm using. I just wanted to try copying them to see how my skills were improving. Not too bad, I think! I think original stuff may be around the corner!

Yet more basic dragon designs. I got them a bit too close together but I like how they turned out. I'm very proud of the wings on the bottom dragon as I find dragon wings very hard to get right. I also had trouble getting the spines to go in the right direction on both dragons, a foreshadowing of things to come.

This one was called "simple dragon". I feel I did pretty well with it. I had trouble getting the wings right and never did even after multiple attempts at it. I might try this one again when I have a little more experience.

A Japanese dragon. This one took an entire month. I had to restart it a couple of times but the end result was worth it. The spines gave me such a headache. I had real problems getting them to turn correctly along the path of the body. But I finally did get them right.

I'm very proud of this one. It shows that I am really improving. I added the bands on the tail as an afterthought, the forked tounge as well.
