I'm still without a cell phone or anything of that nature. It's great.

If I do get one, it'll be the kind that rings without any kind of tune, has no excess BS, and just works.

Maybe a sat-phone.

I couldn't really survive college/being in a band without the ability to text and call someone away from home. There's too many people I have to meet spontaneously.

Once again I must point out that Roger is me. I am actually talking through Roger in this strip. I don't text. I find it idiotic and unnessary, but then again that is me. I personally would like to talk to a person on the phone even if it is for a couple of seconds. I hope you guys like the strip its self and not the contraversy it caused.

You may find it idiotic and unnecessary now but you're not in college yet.

Yeah. It's different in actual college because EVERYONE is on different schedules and has different amounts of alloted breaks in between classes at different times. If someone wants to meet you for lunch somewhere, they can't very well call you while you're in class (provided they're not in class themselves). That's what texting's for. And you can easily text back right then and there, while you wouldn't be able to to dial their number and talk to them right in the middle of lecture.

Fair enough. And I shall continue to do so.

One thing I DO hate, however, is people who text while driving.

I don't even see how that is possible.

It's doable, and people do it, at the expense of PROPERLY WATCHING THE ROAD.

I almost got sideswiped by someone texting a few weeks ago.

I have a couple friends who have free texting on their plans but their evenings/weekends don't start until 7 PM. So they ask me to text during the day, which I do.

Texting is nice when you can't speak aloud for some reason, or you want to say something brief. I don't know about you, but I feel more comfortable communicating through text, too.
Yeah, I was gonna say something along those lines. If I'm in the middle of taking a test, and someone texts me and says "What's up" I'm not gonna dial their number and say "Nothing" then hang up.
If it's just a brief comment or question, it's worth texting instead of phoning. If you're taking a test, there's no reason to have a phone to distract you, either turn it off (completely or the ringer) or don't bring it to the testing desk. Any text or phone replies can wait.

Have you seen the commercial (I think maybe Corona) where the couple is looking for a beach with no cell service? TURN OFF THE <bleeping> PHONE! Then you'll have no service regardless of how many bars you can get wherever you are.

:offtopic: Why are there so many posts that merely quote someone a couple posts earlier but make no further comment? It makes no sense.

I... Oh fu... AHHHHH
the irony!
(oh, and also, when people do that it's the same as saying "what he said". Hence the irony. Except around here, we often try to switch a word or two without anyone noticing.)
