Merry Christmas Define Cynical

Postby LewisTheTank » Wed Dec 03, 2008 1:25 pm

To Define Cynical, it's members and users of past, present and future I wish a Merry Christmas and offer a poem I wrote long ago. Enjoy:

THE POWER OF A SMILE

I saw the world through a shadow
A black shroud distorting the light
Twisting it into tangible darkness
Fear was a sight, a smell, a sound
Echoing off invisible walls

I was falling, falling through ice
Screaming, yet all was silent
No one heard my voiceless cry
Everyone was laughing, laughing at me
Spinning through an endless void

Ahead of me there was a flame
A black fire, burning bright
It was a light in the dark
The end of the tunnel
Waiting, calling to me

I took a step, and it lead to another
I was knocking at the door
A slave, chained in irons
Chaos, the master, stood before me
He held the knife; I took a breath

Silence
Darkness
Madness
Time

Then, a scream
An eagle’s piercing shriek
Sending away the black
Sunlight filled the void
It was a brand new day
The fire had burnt itself out

Green grass grew over the dirt
Flowers bloomed red and gold
I was free- soaring high
Like an eagle- with an eagle
Flying towards true light

I landed on an endless plain
The eagle stood before me
An angel in mortal form
Surrounded by a halo of light
I knelt down before the bird

The eagle became a luminous being
Like a shining star from above
And was transformed by the light
From a heavenly eagle, to a human being
I looked up, spellbound by the sight

My Hero
My Savior
My friend
My eagle
You

The eagle’s voice took on form
There was a glimpse of heaven
I saw it in your endless eyes
Your whole face was shining at me
In a second, you changed my life

I saw you leave, walk away
Never realizing your power
Perhaps the greatest of them all
In one second, able to turn
Endless darkness into golden light

The power-
of a smile.

Silence:

Silence
Is a joy
Sunset's radiance

Or
A sunrise
Beyond the mist

Seeing
The sky
In blue and gold

Hush
Dare not speak
Don't even breathe

Wait
Anticipate
The Silence
