Probably one of those things where it checks its referrer to make sure it's not a hotlink first, but a visit to the site itself immediately prior will fool it into thinking it's not. That's why Google Image Search always takes you to the page it's in first rather than linking directly to the image.

That seems to be the case; copying-and-pasting the link works.
