Couple more practice sketches

Postby Priest_Revan » Wed May 21, 2008 6:37 pm

Well, recently, I've been I've been talking to a YIM friend about how I draw. I watched him draw a couple of times and it hit me that I could really use a skeleton when I draw out the characters so that I know what I'm drawing before I start doing anything else.

I really hope it looks good:

Basically, I tried the first skeleton with a simple posture, Raph walking forward. The second one I tried would be a bit more complicated. A character running opposite the audience when a different pose (Riley). And the third try was a full body pose, aka Travis crouching.

I just wanted to post these. Also, just wanted to announce as well that I finally got my ass up and updated 2AC.
If you put peanutbutter anywhere on your body, I'll lick it off...

ANYWHERE.

ImageMy deviantart... though it does suck.
My FA... nothing's on it right now, so there's no point to click it.

The first one looks quite good. It looks pretty natural. There is something odd about the second one. I think it has to do with the position of the hand, I'm not sure. They are all pretty good though, thanks for sharing.

Your new method seems to improve the poses quite a bit. It's actually I'm trying to use more in my own art.

Different poses and angles are tough, I like the fact that you are trying to enhance your style. Keep up the good work.

as I said on dA, very nice PR.

I have used the skeleton system before, and I might try it for my style soon, but for now I can get by without it.

In general I only use a skeleton system if this is a really hard and complex thing, other than that I learned to predict poses and sort of draw from scratch. But then again that style relies much on luck :P
