Hullo, long time lurker and all that.

I thought I'd comment on this one, anyway. I agree with most the feelings regarding the latter sketch, in that I'm not so sure about how Ozy is rendered but I'm rather partial to this version of Millie. And I just might know why, at least insofar as my own rationalisation of it goes anyway.

In that version, they're more detailed and they have a lot more in common with their source animal. In our mischevious young Fox's case, her eyes are angled up and thus appear to be rather Fox-like in nature. However, when considering her zen comrade, his eyes are angled down.

That's what I noticed, anyway! If Ozy's eyes were angled up a little and the hat straightened a tad, I think he'd look just as good as Millie does.

I like human Millie, but human Ozy isn't at all what I would have expected. Though I'm not sure what I expected.

Realistic Ozy's right eye is sort of messed up, but other than that, it's pretty neat. I'm glad the comic is the way it is, though.

The top hat doesn't look right for some reason on human Ozy... maybe it's the human ears...

Probably because suspension of disbelief is easier when they're foxes. How many kids do you see walking around with a top hat and vest as their normal attire?

Human O&M look sorta cool, but anthro O&M ...I dunno... But, then again, it's just an experiment, right? Experiments are cool.

-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Am I the only person who doesn't like seeing them as humans?

No.

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!

I like them better as foxes, too.

I also like them better as foxes. The human sketches came out pretty good, but I couldn't get used to seeing them (the humans) in the comic strip.

All I can say is... Thank GOD he remembered to include pants!

I am also thankful! LOL!!

While the sketches of Ozy and Millie as humans are an interesting novelty, like I said earlier, I neither want nor expect them to actually be used. To do that would funamentally alter the strip, and it would lose much of its charm. To quote the FAQ on the main site:
I suppose the philosophical justification is that it's easier to show people their failings if you use animal characters because the less the character looks like you, the less defensive you're going to be
Besides, if O&M were humans, the strip would never have won that Ursa Major award.

I also tend to like like cartoonish styles more than realistic. This is no exception. However, it's still pretty cool to see them that way. I think that look favors Millie more so then Ozy. In fact, I think in both styles shown here Millie's design looks a bit better.

I like seeing them like this for the sake of it. It's just interesting. But I would not want to see it as a continuous thing.

Primates...what an interesting concept. That could save Millie all kinds of time when next she decides to render Ozzie bald.
