the next RD blog update: "hey guys, those of you who have been following me for several years. remember when I used to be a guy and I realized that I was a woman in a man's body? Well it turns out, that wasn't all. I'm actually a black woman who was born in a white man's body."

When I start my own company I'm hiring only black people, except for one "token" white guy out front, answering phones.

Comics and the like that survive off of fans and fan support should strive to, more than anything else, please the fans. Speaking from my own experience, I've thrown away two or three good stories from my own strip as they would so far change the direction and characters of my strip that it'd be almost unrecognisable.

Fair enough if he doesn't want to do it anymore, or has run out of ideas, but in that case just stop changing stuff. I know he doesn't give a flying turdling what we think at the end of the day, as we're toxic, but he should at least take on board that his fans, the people who GOT him recognised, who followed him when he was unheard of, even the ones who stuck with him through the I DREW THIS phase, don't like what he's doing with O+M.

Obviously, it's his creation and he can, at the end of the day, do what ever he wants with it...but he should justify it. But if he'd much rather sit with fingers in his ears and go "la-la-la" than at least explain WHY he's doing then I have actually lost all respect for the man and just count myself lucky that I got into the older stuff....as without THAT I personally wouldn't be drawing a comic now.

Cheers for ruining my faith in stuff DCS.

PS; replace all my "he's" with "she's" if you are so inclined.

Very well said Rooster! Glad that i got lucky in getting into the older works of David and like you, He was my inspiration when i started drawing again after more than 8 years of hiatus.

David ignoring the fans (and fan forum) that got him recognized in the first place. Then calling the only fansite that exist just for his works a "toxic" place made me loose respect for him.

I don't care if he switched names or gender, i will still call him as David because i can.

I didn't much like Ozy and Millie later on and haven't been impressed with Raine Dog either but these comments I think haven't got quite the best perspective of the forum/fans.

I don't know what the average pageviews are for Raine Dog but I'm pretty certain we never represented, as we most certainly didn't with Ozy and Millie, a majority of the fan base. With the regular disappointment and disgust we've voiced most of us aren't even in that fan base anyway, so less likely to influence what direction she takes.

This forum hardly got him recognised in the first place. Ozy and Millie had been appearing for 5 or 6 years previously anyway and it was because it was popular already that a fan forum opened and managed to keep going.
