Personally I don't see the need to examine a strip in such detail. Questions might arise, yes, but why dwell? Talent is as talent does, and so far I've not seen ONE thing in any of the strips (even way back to the start) that needed to be criticized. Some caused curiosity, sure, but you gotta learn to roll with the laughter as well as the punches.
It's called "the imagination of the creator". Deal with it, I do. But after 4 pages of squabbling over something trivial, I just couldn't sit here and not say something!
(I've been getting the impression no one really even cares about the comic any more, just the need to partake in ridicule and such. No matter, there is at least one (or two, three) that takes the comic as it is offered, and let that be my point:
Either accept what is offered, or just don't bother reading it any more if all you're going to do is destroy for the creator any desire to actually enjoy creating the comic.)

"Do you really think you have what it takes? Do you?"
Probably one of the truest things said on these boards in a while.(I've been getting the impression no one really even cares about the comic any more, just the need to partake in ridicule and such.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Nice article though a bit too nitpicky for me.
Here's the bottom line: I'm learning to draw and when I can draw the O&M characters to my satisfaction, I will bring Capt. Locke home to his family.
It'll be some time before that happens as my drawing is going well, but very slow. It could be around this time next year before I can draw the O&M characters. I doubt any of you will see it as I would never put something like that on the web without express permission from DCS. But, at least I'll have the ending I want if nothing else.
As for the ending DCS is doing, I've had my say. I won't speak ill of it anymore. Everyone knows how I feel. I'll just sit back read whatever strips are left and dream of the day when I can draw my own ending.
Oh, it's clear now that Nov. 1st will NOT be the final strip. I'll bet the events of the day play out over several strips.

Lewis, I understand. Still, people like to discuss things like this. I love O&M and while I may not like how the final story is being told, I do respect the right of DCS to tell it however she wants.Personally I don't see the need to examine a strip in such detail. Besides, I could no more stop reading O&M than I could stop breathing! Whatever is going to happen in the strip is actually fine with me, believe it or not.
DCS has always been a little schizophrenic as a storyteller and I kinda like that. But, she is clearly burnt out on the strip and the seams are showing. I've been silent for months but, like you, I felt I HAD to speak up.
Hell, don't take me TOO seriously! I'm just voicing an opinion. I wish Lewellyn and Ms. Mudd all the best. Really! As I told DCS in e-mail, life is too short to do otherwise.
Quoted for truth. So weird how people can be such toolbags in criticizing something that has brought so much joy to so many people for 10 years.Personally I don't see the need to examine a strip in such detail. Some people liked the comic and now they don't. What's so hard to understand about that?

seriously, cougartiger (and Lewis and Benton), although I am trolling I like you and I would not like for you to take discouragement from me or any of us if for some reason you. Cougar, Define Cynical was created to be a place for all things OM-related, including people freely posting their art, and as long as it isn't pornographic, DCS is fine with it. We would all love to see it, regardless of wether we agree with your philosophy on the ending of the strip. There have been many people who have written or drew things like this.
pants jesus
DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.
Oh damn it, Jack, I had forgotten about that last one D=
also, I always laugh at the Hotdog Millie one XD

I understand that. But for a complete storyline (which might become a graphic novel) I would just feel better getting DCS to approve. It'll be quite awhile though. I have a LOT to learn. But when I get there, I'll let everyone know.seriously, cougartiger (and Lewis and Benton), although I am trolling I like you and I would not like for you to take discouragement from me or any of us if for some reason you.
