I know, I know, they never had pets before (to my knowledge at least), but because of that Lyndon thread, it made me think... can anthro characters (animal characters to be specific) have animal pets?
The Lyndon thread reminded me of it because he was like a real bird instead of being the same size (or around the same size) and Ozy (not being really anthro like the rest of the characters).
...
Edit: Now that I think about it... Mickey Mouse and Pluto could also be a really good example of this...

If you put peanutbutter anywhere on your body, I'll lick it off...
ANYWHERE.
My deviantart... though it does suck.
My FA... nothing's on it right now, so there's no point to click it.

It is a rather bizarre scenario to imagine, I'm sure...
But that said... it depends what kind of biological history, if any, you would ascribe to an anthromorph species... and thus the nature of their affiliation with their quadrapedal relatives. If it was like humans with chimps then some might do it and others might consider it cruel or wrong somehow...
If in some way they actually consider themselves direct representations of the four-legged form then it might well be awkward for both to exist in the same world, as it would imply contrariwise that they were not. It wouldn't mean that some species weren't restricted though. Pet fish aren't totally out of the question, even if pet dogs might be.
Then again... the "Do Not Think About It" School of Unquestioning Belief would probably just tell you: Yes..... they can have pets, and do absolutely nothing to explain it....
... which I suppose works too. ^_^

I have not thought about pets in O&M. DCS probably hasn't ever introduced the concept because it may just needlessly complicate things.
It's sort of an "out of sight, out of mind" thing.
Then again, we might be able to argue that Ozy is at times Millie's pet, because of the way she sometimes treats him, or vice versa, because of the way he keeps track of her.
Now I'm poking anthills, aren't I? (SotiCoto is rolling eyes looking at this.)

You usually
have to take what people say
with a grain of salt.
(or in cases like
mine, a shaker or two may
yield the best result.)

Another example: In SatAM and the Archie series, Sonic had Muttski...an indication that even on an anthro world, non-anthro animals exist. It's possible. Mickey had Pluto. Lindsfarne had the mice.
In fact, here's a ponderment for you: We have carnivorous species as anthros in O&M, and where did they get the meat they eat?

Millie once expressed a desire for a pony, but DCS regretted that later. It appears that mammals, reptiles, and birds account for all sapient species, though many a sapient bird is "wild." (A butterfly once spoke to Millie, but maybe she imagined it.) I think a pet goldfish would be just fine.
As for meat, well, it's been a long time since anyone even mentioned meat (think back to the trouble Ms. Mudd had getting a veggie burger), so maybe that's been dismissed from the O&M world.

I addressed that in one of my fictional stories. My main character would eat his enemies. Another character hated that about him.
In O&M, they have not specifically come out and said anything about this.
The safe presumption, if there is such a thing, is that the meat comes from non-anthro animals. Though a lot of their problems could be solved by eating their enemies: The principal, Felicia, Jeremy... All quite edible in my omnivorous book.

Having it on my computer and having read the entire thing a few times helps. If I didn't have it on my computer, I'd still be looking for it, waiting for pages to load on my slow internet connection.
